Simba looks most like the kitty posted but you know after 21 years … you know exactly where every stripe was and the clarity of her eyes, but this one is close. Yes Captain is a SAR and Son will follow. MIL did lots of work and it’s fascinating to learn she traced her side back to England and the family members that boarded the Mayflower and survived the trip and became pioneers of the “New World”. Oh Kitten, you have a Rich history in your family. I do believe that your Grandma and my MIL and all the generations before are True survivors … so here we are! I agree .. I’m sure they are together. I’m at my desk now … I LOVE it … Captain tends to be a practical gift giver … Cherie has not always been appreciative of that BUT this time he nailed it … He’s a keeper . Kitty Hugs KITTEN

I’m glad you enjoyed the kitty stories. They are so wonderful and such a part of the family aren’t they? I like talking about them with people who like hearing about them. Your Simba sounds like she was a real sweetie and character too. What did she look like? What kind of kitty was she? I know you have so many special stories and moments with her. Please feel free to share any of them whenever you feel like it! 😀

How exciting for your daughters! What a great organization! Is Captain a SAR? Will son follow? I believe my mom traced family somewhat back to the 1600-1700’s when they came over but there is still so much to learn. No DAR for me, that I know of anyway. Wrong war! My family member was the CIVIL WAR! Famous General and then elected President TWICE! In fact, today was a big celebration and unveiling of his statue at West Point. I watched and was quite moved to hear such great things said about him today, “He is a leader that still inspires us today, more than a century and a half later and he is a leader of character for all of us to emulate, an exemplar of our values, of duty, honor, country”. I have always been VERY proud he is in my family tree. He was quite a man; humble, quiet, a true hero. 😀

I am sorry to hear about the Captain’s Dad. It seems we just can’t escape that horrible disease. That must have been very hard on your MIL, to lose him so young and with a young son to raise. She must be very strong. I’m sorry your kids never got to meet their grandfather. I never got to meet mine either (on my dad’s side), he died when my Dad was 10 years old. Sounds like your MIL and my grandmother had something in common. She was very strong too. I think that sounds like a good plan to sit with your MIL and learn the stories of their early years in marriage and Captain’s early childhood. Those stories are precious and they love to share their memories. I think that is very sweet of you to show that interest. I wish I could remember all the stories my parents told. So many times I wish I could ask them. When my dad was in his last weeks he often talked of my mom and when they “courted”. It was so romantic. I loved hearing it and I especially loved hearing it from him. He would fall asleep and dream of her and talk in his sleep, saying her name and telling her how beautiful she was. Cherie, it just filled my heart. I know they are together now.
