@Cherie,
I am so glad you and your family are safe! As scary as this earthquake has been, it could have been so much worse! I have been through some strong ones in my life (Sylmar, Whittier) and felt the San Francisco (while living in LA) and felt the Northridge (while living here). All of them produced major damage and loss of life and none registered as high as this one of 7.1. My hubby and I were just saying yesterday how extremely thankful we are that there were no fatalities and grateful it happened away from densely populated areas where for sure the outcome would’ve been very different. There is so much for which to be grateful!
We did not see any behavior that was different in our kitties beforehand that we know of but definitely see some stress in them now. We are giving them extra love. I may not have noticed though even if they exhibited it because I was so concerned over the outdoor kitties because of the fireworks. They have been sleeping close to the house except for new mommy Alejandra who is busy being attentive to her new babies.
I’m hoping the talk about a bigger one is just that – “talk”. I am still on edge but life goes on. Glad to hear you and hubby have a plan and have taught your kids what to do. That helps in attaining a sense of calm in such a stressful, uncertain situation. Hats off to the both of you! Hugs to your adorable kids!
When we lived in LA, our house had wood floors and it was easy to see when the closet got invaded by ants the day prior to the Whittier quake. Here, we have carpet in the bedrooms and closets so we wouldn’t notice but I did see a few “scouts” on my kitchen counters on the 3rd. Hmmm, I wonder…
Thank you so much for the birthday shout out for my son! I appreciate it very much! 😀 We will be celebrating his birthday when he gets here next week! He is flying in to LA with his fiance to spend time with his grandma and my hubby will drive down to see his mom and bring son home. He doesn’t know about the new car but he will no doubt be wanting to drive it home! Lol! I’m nervous about the timing with all the shaking going on.
Thank you for posting the glue product! I will be checking it out! I have some of my mom’s Lladro and Hummel pieces, and a beautiful vase she made that are precious to me. I’ve never heard of that product and have lost things in earthquakes before so I’m going to be all over this! Thanks!
Have a great day and stay safe! Kitty hugs! 😀 -
Hi Cherie;
Thank goodness everyone is okay. Thank goodness no fatalities have been reported. Hi ave as good a day as is possible. I am certain there is much tenseness in the air. Hug everyone….a lot.
Diatribe below written to Kitten. They are beginning to close some HSN outlets around Sarasota and Tampa. Drat! Signs of things to come?
Stay safe;
Amy

Hi Kittengirl;
Hoping things get better and the shaking, rattling and rolling is confined to an album on a record player.
I will repeat this for Sheba and I hope all see. In a little over two weeks we are headed for Naples, Florida for a few days. It is our anniversary gift to us. We will drive an hour or so to Sarasota one of those days to walk around St Armand’s very beautiful circle which is laden with shops and restaurants. Quite special.
We also will go to the HSN outlet. They have one in Sarasota which is not as big as Tampa’s but you can’t buy everything. I called to verify the hours and address. Well, we will go there but the Sarasota HSN outlet is closing for good in the middle of August and the Tampa one is closing around that time as well. I didn’t ask about the others because they are above Tampa and that is an unnecessary drive for us.
I did ask if they have any Heidi. She told me their pieces are currently 66% off and would probably be sold by the time of our visit. So, we will rummage through what they have. Maybe things will be trucked in at the nth hour and I will look for Marla, Gilman and maybe a handbag. Jerry will look for gadgets.
Closing the outlets…..perhaps a sign of the times. I will find out if any will stay open. I’m wondering if the whole outfit will eventually be relocated to Pennsylvania to the QVC campus.
Bah, humbug
Amy who has a kitten named after her. So sweet.

Sheba … Cherie & Captain are exhausted, Glad we’re on “Vacation”. We made it safely back to San Diego and kids & MIL are fine. MOM is O.K., She says she remembers HER Mom talking about the The KERN Quake, July 21st 1952. The Kern quake was a 7.3 and it left 12 dead, hundreds injured, and massive structural damage. My MOM’s Mom remembers having to clean up the mess caused by the quake, ALL the broken glass & dishes. So, 67 years ago to the month … S. Cali is rocked by a 7.1 … So yes, You are right, nothing to be take lightly, we are thankful. So true … When we had pets … even fish, they would act out a day or so before a quake, so we learned to pay attention to our pets. Thankfully Captain has it ALL covered, everything & I mean EVERYTHING (bookshelves, hutches & so on) is latched to the studs in the walls, he’s Cherie’s HERO. Thank You for being You and your Prayers, Waving Dear Sheba♥ … Take care Ladies.
@kittengirl …. sorry about the stress on your fur-babies. We remember those days well when we had pets and they would know…sometimes we caught it, mostly it “hit” us after the fact that they were “acting” out. Yup, Cherie has it ALL “down” and Captain installed special cabinet latches years ago. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUR SON… Kitty Hugs.
@bichon18 … Thank You for your prayers and well wishes. The kids are good, they “follow” our reaction to these things. Captain & I remain calm and we have talked about what the kids need to do. It is sooo cute to see them under the table, a doorway, or sitting in the hall away from glass during a quake. Too, they know & participate in our “Preparedness Plan”. Have a Good One … Amy.
@taci … You O.K. out there? You know how Cherie worries ….

@sheba2011,
Good Saturday evening in OZ land. Hope all is well in your part of the country. We are fine and can’t complain about our weather after reading about the earthquake in Cali.
Funny thing about yesterday and today, I blinked and they are gone. Woke up both days and attacked that endless to do list.🥵🥵
We are all packed. Hard to think about clothing, jewelry and shoes for a month!!
Just finished making roadie snack baggies for us and Jewel and Little D.
Thank you for the well wishes for our trip. Hope yours will be coming up soon.
Saw Journey in Tahoe several years ago, (no Steve Perry). Liked your song choice.
Have a great Saturday evening and a Blessed Sunday.
J and LD are saying good night to Poppy. They are going to bed early😌
Enjoyed all the fun beachy songs and island pictures from Club Sheba this week. -
Peace Out Peeps! Cali stay safe and no more shaking.
Cherie drive safely back to your children..Good girl in gluing things down.
Shout out to all the girls. 🙂

Alicia KeysWeren’t you the one that said
That you don’t want me anymore
And how you need your space
And give the keys back to your door
And how I cried and tried
And tried to make you stay with me
But still you said the love was gone
And that I had to leave
talkin’ bout a family
(Now you) sayin’ I complete your dream
(Now you) sayin’ I’m your everything
You’re confusing me, what you say to me
Don’t play with me, don’t play with me, ’cause
(What goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down)
Now who’s cryin’, desirin’ to come back to me
(What goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down)
Now who’s cryin’, desirin’ to come back
I remember when I was sittin’ home alone
Waiting for you ’til three o’clock in the morn’
And when you came home
You’d always have some sorry excuse
Half explaining to me
Like I’m just some kind of a fool
I sacrificed the things I want
Just to do things for you
But when it’s time to do for me
You never come through
wanna be up under me
(Now you) have so much to say to me, hey
(Now you) want to make time for me
What you do to me, your confusing me
Don’t play with me, don’t play with me, ’cause
(What goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down)
Now who’s cryin, desirin’ to come back to me
(What goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down)
Now who’s cryin, desirin’ to come back
I remember when I was sittin’ home alone
Waiting for you ’til three o’clock in the morn’
Night after night, knowing somethin’ goin’ on
Wasn’t long before I be g-g-gone
Lord knows it wasn’t easy, believe me
Never thought you’d be the one that would deceive me
And never do what you supposed to do
No need to approach me boo, ’cause I’m over you
(What goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down)
Now who’s cryin’, desirin’ to come back to me
(What goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down)
Gotta stop cryin’, to come back to me
(Goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down)
He’s cryin’, cryin, my baby
And it goes around
(What goes around, comes around
What goes up, must come down)
Now who’s cryin’, desirin’ to come back to me
