Annoying Host on QVC
Since some of you have complained about some of the hosts or the dual hosting on HSN, I thought I would put in my two cents. I am not sure of her name but I think it’s Rosina. She is a host on QVC. I was watching her jewelry show, and she didn’t know a lot about jewelry. She also wasn’t familiar with some of the cuts and parts of the jewelry. I miss the professionalism and preparedness that the hosts used to have.

If all the new hosts would realize that they are there to present and not to entertain, it would help. True, maybe they don’t have enough training. Over the course of your hosting, we may get to know you, hopefully like you, trust you, it isn’t going to happen today….. and everyone needs to s l o w down. People who talk too fast are perceived to be lying.

I turn OFF QVC when she is on. Understand the need for changes in business but change should be for the better! Policies also have changed on both QVC and HSN. Making it more difficult for the consumer, who by the way, keeps them IN business. Buyer beware when they tell you “free exchanges” I have had the opposite experience.

I agree with all of you. I guess management does want for TV hosts to appear more friendly with the audience, but I would rather watch a TV host and the vendor present the product and describe it in detail than talking about their personal life. There was a network called GemsTV. It was a reverse auction. I loved watching that show. Most of the hosts were gemologist, and they knew their gemstones inside and out. I learned a lot from them.
I remember Dan Dennis. He had his own line of jewelry. He knew his gemstones 👍🏼🥰.

I honestly think that the new hires on the shopping channels aren’t given enough training, or info, on the items they are presenting. Sometimes all that unnecessary chatter (personal stories, etc.) is because they are trying to fill in the time slots for the items, my opinion only! We still have some of the more professional hosts…for now anyway!

Dynac – I totally agree with you. Absolutely loved Dan Dennis. His educational approach to his presentations left you with tidbits of knowledge. Dan Dennis, in fact, led to me even watching shopping on tv. Originally, I thought it was the dumbest idea I had ever heard. However, he caught my attention and caused me to fall in love with gemstones.

Dan Dennis was so knowledgeable about gemstones. I was pleasantly surprised to see him as a host on LC shopping channel several nights ago , And, he was selling gemstones, of course.

I think all of them are much different than the ‘good ole days’ when the host described the products in more detail. The Product was the thing, not chit chat and private life information. I don’t check in often because of what to me looks like hosts attempting to take up time when they have nothing else to do. I am wondering if it is some directive from the TOP to make friends with the audience. And at those price points I need friends to come shopping with me elsewhere.

Bravo! You are so right!

You are so right! I can’t bring myself to see a show as they drone on and on about nothing and spend 17-18 minutes on one item (i.e. Marla Wynne). So I’ll go online and look around but along with the lackluster personalities of some of the hosts, I think the quality of clothes and household goods has suffered greatly since the merge as well as customer service. I can find just about anything on other websites now. Said to say.

I don’t want to hear about Pedro anymore! It is distracting and creepy.

I enjoyed watching Dan Dennis way back when. That gentleman knew his gemstones and it was educational just watching his shows. It seems those days are gone.
