FRIDAY NIGHT TRIVIA, JUNE 5, 2020
It’s Friday Night, TIME FOR TRIVIA!!!!!!! 🙂 🙂 And a huge welcome to the month of June.
Hope you are all ready for some fun. For the newcomers, the questions can be found in the Rewards Store within the Arcade. Questions begin between 8 pm and 8:05 pm EST. depending upon your computer clock. There are six questions during the game. The last question is posted between 10:30 pm and 10:35 pm EST. Again, depending upon your computer clock. Each question lasts approximately 30 minutes, so you will need to come up with the correct response within that time frame. If you answer incorrectly, you will see a red “OOPS.” The incorrect response will not count against you unless the time is up. Each correct answer is worth 200 tickets to use in the Rewards Store against the Featured or Current Sweepstakes. So, before you tear your hair out, before you give up, just return to this thread where one or more of us will be able to help. Also, join us in light conversation, ideas or whatever and LET THE FUN BEGIN….:)

So the weekly update.
First, OODIEBOM, thank you for the very nice post in last weeks trivia. Interesting and nicely supportive! I wonder if I had clarified, I’m a flight attendant so that kind of eliminates pilot options. There were two company conference calls this week about retirement and the program…I really need to focus on two areas. Medicare (I will be technically eligible on December 1st) and then the pension amount. I dug up a name for an independent agent that helped me with my Mom’s plans when she was here…he left me a message and I’ll see if I can chat with him about the various plans. Regarding money to live on until I am 66 and 2 months (I want to delay SS until my “full retirement” age. I had hoped to delay even farther out but don’t know if that will now be possible)…need to clarify the amount of pension that I will get before my age 66 and the 2 months. They then do the “social security offset” thing and reduce your pension amount, once you begin SS. LOTS to consider.
Then there remains the big elephant of debt from the business. Five figures with the IRS (which with penalties and interest is in the mid 6 figures. The tax attorney is supposed to, eventually, make an offer in compromise but can’t do it until the 2019 taxes are filed and accepted There is Canon copier company that wants $17000 (I want the lawyer to bankrupt or dissolve the corporation)…there is a credit card (ugh) and a line of credit at US Bank. All very ugly but I need some conferences regarding what I can get out of, for the least.

The other thing to consider is whether or not there is a cost of living increase each year if you retire. Another question. Will the employer be paying your health insurance during retirement or is that your responsibility. I assume Medicare will be paid each month through your Social Security check. However, you will need a supplement to offset the costs that Medicare does not cover. If your employer is not paying your health insurance, then you should take a look at AARP and see what they offer as a group rate. There is a lot to consider. And of course the business you didn’t own, that is in the process of claiming bankruptcy and taking you with them. Hmm….. I think you should take another look at that picture.

Good night everyone, have a great weekend and week. It’s going to be a very rainy weekend here. Full moon tonight but can’t see, also it’s good for planting. Can’t do that too, lots of rain.

I put a little response further down.

response to last week?????

OODIEBOM
I sort of just did that at the top…you were so nice to write all of that. Even a part time job would bring in just a bit to defray monthly expenses, before or after SS. There also is a cash severance that isn’t that much but would indeed probably tide me over (with the pension) until SS.
I’m a cheap date!
-
Pipman, back when I was single, some of the best dates I had were cheap ones. Picnic at the beach. Instead of dinner at 6 pm, Early Bird Specials. Happy Hours with half price hors doeuvres, watch a movie at home with home made popcorn. National Parks are $10 for the ticket and free after that. Walk a couple paths at a State Park. Half price items when you turn 55 or 60. Senior day beginning at age 45 and over. Read the entertainment section of the Friday through Sunday paper. Loads of specials and mid week specials on Wednesday. You’ll be surprised what you can come up with. Good luck and have fun. That’s the main thing. Whatever you do don’t brood over it. Find alternatives.
