FRIDAY NIGHT TRIVIA, JOKES, GIFS, & CONVERSATION, MAY 14, 2011
“I came from a real tough neighborhood. Once a guy pulled a knife on me. I knew he wasn’t a professional. The knife had butter on it.” – Rodney Dangerfield
“When I was a kid my parents moved a lot, but I always found them.” – Rodney Dangerfield
The humor of Rodney Dangerfield became widely known when he was invited to The Ed Sullivan Show in the late 60’s to perform his standup act which triggered more invitations to perform to bigger audiences and famous venues in glitzy Las Vegas.
“Rodney Dangerfield’s fame also earned him movie deals including “Caddyshack” in 1980 where he starred with Bill Murray and Chevy Chase. Since then, the signature Rodney Dangerfield quotes and one-liners have become staples for standup comedy fans.”
“Rodney’s success with his self-deprecating humor tells us all a lesson.”
“We shouldn’t take ourselves too seriously. And sometimes, when life is not as perfect as we all wish it should be, it doesn’t hurt to laugh at our unfavorable situations, brush them off and move along.”
Hope you are all ready for some fun. For the newcomers, the questions can be found in the Rewards Store within the Arcade. Questions begin between 8 pm and 8:05 pm EST. depending upon your computer clock. There are six questions during the game. The last question is posted between 10:30 pm and 10:35 pm EST. Again, depending upon your computer clock. Each question lasts approximately 30 minutes, so you will need to come up with the correct response within that time frame. If you answer incorrectly, you will see a red “OOPS.” The incorrect response will not count against you unless the time is up. Each correct answer is worth 200 tickets to use in the Rewards Store against the Featured or Current Sweepstakes. So, before you tear your hair out, before you give up, just return to this thread where one or more of us will be able to help. Also, join us in light conversation, ideas or whatever and LET THE FUN BEGIN…. 🙂💖

@oodiebom and all Trivia Players Good Evening. 😎
-
-
“He gets no respect”……..Thanks for the gif.
-
Love Rodney! I guess no game again tonight! So frustrating!
-
Hi diablo. I do not think we are the only ones waiting in the wings for this game to reappear. I surmise more patience is needed.
-
Sheba, that is so pretty!
-
Good evening Gabbie. Welcome to the Friday night saga—-game or no game, that is the question.
-
-
Another Oldie…Sorry…
-
fbn, it’s cute and a newbie to me.
-
I love it and I have never seen it. Looking good fbn135. 🌹
-
To OODIE & Sheba…
-
I don’t remember this one! Hope you are doing a little better this week.
-
I am doing about the same my friend How are u doing?
-
I’m OK I guess, just tired. I wish your eyes would improve the or at the very least stop deteriorating.
-
Velvet, just saw your post. I wish the same to FBN.
-
Please keep him in your prayers.
-
Your oldies are wonderful and so many haven’t seen them anyway. Nothing wrong with repeats of oldies-but-goodies! 👍 😊
-
-
-
Hi Sheba. Good Evening to you. Nice here on the Gulf Coast. No humidity. High 70s, low 80s
-
That sounds wonderful. I’ve been chilled all day. It’s 54 here with 67% humidity.
-
Good Evening Sanibel. Glad I could send some warmth your way.
-
@oodiebom and all trivia players have some Ice Tea. 😎
-
Oh, that looks sooooo delish. Thanks Shebe.
-
-
Cute, Andrew has mentioned Rodney a few times.
-
-
Hi Oodiebom, Sheba, fbn and Sanibel & any one I missed! The week went by too fast. We still have the same trivia question, it’s like an old 45 rpm record that was damaged and the needle keeps playing the same words over and over again! LOL! Ooodiebom, did you get your 2nd shot?
-
Yes, I did get the second shot along with hubby. My arm started to ache where the needle went in. It came to a crescendo in the middle of the night and then had another covid experience on Sunday. By Monday morning I was fine. Hubby had a reaction to the first one. Nothing on the second. Feels good to have that over and done with.
-
So glad you were got the 2nd shot! Gives a feeling of being somewhat protected from Covid. At least we can get back to something that resembles “normal”!
-
The only thing that really concerns me at the moment is the offshoots. Example India and Great Britain. This one they expect to become Global. The strain seems to be more potent and has the ability to infect many. Both Moderna and Pfizer are working on this and it seems it will be applied to the booster when ready.
-
Sorry to hear about your reactions, though they seem to have passed rather quickly. Nothing seems as scary as getting Covid and ending up on a respirator in the hospital. Thank goodness that didn’t happen to you last year when you came down with it on the cruise.
-
I definitely do not want that virus again, EVER….I was really scared prior to the cruise and wanted to cancel, but didn’t take the insurance. This time, not so sure if I will pass on the insurance part. And, count myself lucky as well as having a TV in the room where you were able to watch MSNBC as well as CNN. Those two channels told me what to expect and what to do. Now I’m able to tell others what I learned.
-
-
Hello, friends–love the new title/heading of our little trivia-chat corner! Hope everything is looking brighter in your area. Things are loosening up fast here in Southern California.
-
Hi Rosatowwen, here too. Things are getting back to somewhat normal. But I am not giving up my mask just quite yet.
-
Hello, to you, and neither am I and my brother says the same. A few months down the road will change everything so much and we will be vaccinated by then.
-
Hi Rosa, glad to hear it is getting better in California! Are the kids back in school yet?
-
Some are as I see them coming back in the afternoons in our neighborhood. However I don’t see or hear anything from the school in back of my house–a middle school. In between the school and my fence is a little league with about 4 diamonds and they are out there in full force. They are so close that I have to put up tarps to cover my windows so they don’t get broken by home runs. I end up with dozens of hardballs in my yard every year and so do my neighbors. I use tarps because the balls make holes in the blinds and the wind will shred my blinds overnight when we get the Santa Anas.
-
Religious and private schools here have been open since last August. Public schools opened up in February here. I heard that in California they still were not open. How sad for the kids! In my town, they turned all the baseball diamonds into soccer fields. My sons always played baseball. My backyard was the place for them and their friends to practice so I appreciate what you have to do to protect your windows! It was good though, I knew where they were. Some of them still come over (they are in their 50’s now) to tell us of all the good times they had here!
-
Rosa, things are looking up here as well. However, will not be giving up our masks anytime soon, especially when out and about.
-
Oodiebom, we too will keep wearing our masks. We still do not feel comfortable dining in restaurants either. We do order curbside for take out. Not the same as dining in but there are some days when I just don’t feel like cooking! LOL!
-
Gabbie, you are ahead of us on this one. The last time hubby and I ate out was the day we returned from our cruise. That morning we were supposed to have breakfast in our cabin, but they forgot us. It was too late to go to the Lido Deck so we thought we would grab a bite once we were on the road. But, there was nothing. Just a long road. By the time we reached the Interstate we decided it was just another couple of hours to the front door, so we kept on going. Our only stop was to gas up. Now, since then, both of us have been too frightened to go anywhere. The only thing we do is purchase groceries. Haven’t been to the beach or a retail store. Been buying things on line. Haven’t even set foot into Homegoods or the Outlet stores.
-
Oodiebom, sounds like you did not have a good cruise. I too remember years ago when one of my sons got sick when we were traveling. All we wanted to do was get home. We were hours from being there and just kept driving. Not a good trip so I can somewhat relate. We do go grocery shopping because I like to see what we are purchasing. I order on line from retail stores and from HSN (mainly Andrew Lessman products) . I think my mailman hates me! I keep Purell and Lysol wipes with me all the time. I wipe the carts and frozen/refrigerator handles with the Lysol wipes and hands with the Purell wipes when back in the car. They say that two weeks after the 2nd shot you should be immune to the virus. Hubby just had a new grill delivered and I am looking forward to summer and cookouts with family and friends! Stay safe my friend, I appreciate that you open this thread every Friday. Have a good week!
-
-
Good Evening everyone. Happy Friday, a huge shout out to the ones who provide us such great pics and stories for entertainment and laughs.
FBN135, Sheba and OODIEBOM. -
One of my favorite movies for laughter all the way through is Back to School with Rodney Dangerfield 1986.
-
Good evening xango. Phew, I’m happy that you are all right from the J&J vaccine. Every week I read more cases of people not doing well. I was concerned all week. By the way, did you get the rain I sent your way yesterday afternoon? I know it wasn’t much, but it’s all we were lucky to get.
-
Thank you for your concern but, no worries my friend. I am well, no reaction what so ever. It’s over one month since I received the vaccine. What gave me some discomfort is the wisdom tooth I extracted. At my age it makes it worst, but I prepared for it. Made soups, a variety of them. Put it through the blender and also strainer. Now I am up to eating mashed food, soft food on one side of my mouth. What I miss the most is my carbonated water, can’t have any for about one month or until the hole close.
-
Xango, you must have had oral surgery to remove that tooth! No fun! Keep eating those homemade soups, they are the best! Hope it heals soon.
-
Gabbie608, yes I did. However I didn’t go under just did a local.
-
Oh xango. Those are beasts at any age. I had all 4 extracted in my teens at a hospital. I was only supposed to stay overnight, but got the mumps.
-
Oh, the mumps. Now that one I didn’t get, had the chicken pox at 12.
-
Hi Sheba, yes that’s the one. I have seen it several times and love it every time. I laugh as it is the first time I am seeing it.
-
-
Went to the garden center this afternoon. Everyone in line to check out were looking at me, couldn’t figure it out, then I realized I forgot to put on my mask! In Ohio, we will be able to shed them in a few weeks if vaccinated. Some stores will still require you to wear them.
-
I feel safer wearing the mask when shopping and to doctor appointments. Even though we have been given the green light, I will continue to do same. Cruise lines are now beginning to say when they will open. However, they are requesting proof of vaccine, wearing masks, social distancing and keeping your hands clean. But, here’s the problem. Somehow or other, there are people out there who are able to counterfeit those cards. So, who is to tell if you have been vaccinated or not.
-
After I am finished with the vaccine I will still wear my mask when out in the general public
like stores or medical offices. Sorry I don’t trust this thing. -
Guess we are thinking alike on this one Sheba. At least if anything is airborne we have a bit of protection when wearing a mask.
-
I agree with both of you in the continued wearing of masks at least for the near future. It has dropped the number of flu cases as well. When my husband was undergoing cancer treatment and we would go to Disneyland to just walk around and hang out (we had passes), he would wear a mask back then in 2006. A lot of people did.
-
-
In MN if less than 500 gathered outdoors, mask is not required when vaccinated. Soon, inside mask wearing will be modified. Target has already announced, that masks are still required in their stores.
-
I think I would feel safer where retail stores require mask wearing no matter what. They do not have the staff to stand at the door to check if you have been vaccinated. It’s up to us to adhere to their rules.
-
I have been wondering the same thing. There are always those who still don’t believe there is a pandemic or a need for vaccine.
-
-
-
LOL!!!! 🙂
-
-
Good night all.
Thank you Oodiebom for the smiles & everyone else who contributed.
Hope you all have a healthy safe week ahead.
-
Goodnight Sanibel. Have a great rest of the evening, a better tomorrow and may you have a wonderful week. Good night and pleasant dreams.

Hi all
A live question now! Answer bamboo.-
@fem,
Worked like a charm thank you. 😎
-
Seems like one of last 2 or 3 questions is live. Only one but it’s points.
-
It may be the next to last for the evening, but at least there is hope that they are trying.
-
Fern, well I’ll be……Never say never. Thanks for the answer and the uptik. You are a wonder.
-
Thank you. I try to check each question, just in case & it seems one of the last 2 or 3 is sometimes a live question. Hope you all were able to get your points.
-
I received the 200 tickets. Thanks again for the head’s up. Hopefully, next week we will have more than one to answer. Take care and have a great weekend and a wonderful week.
