What to take for bad muscle cramps/spasms?
What to take for bad muscle cramps/spasms in lots of different body areas like legs, back, hands etc.????? I have heard different things like magnesium. potassium etc. but most of them act like laxatives.

Pickle juice DOES work for myself and my family and friends for leg cramps. I buy the bread & butter pickles (any pickle juice will work) and drink about 1/4 – 1/2 cup of the juice. It works fast in about 4 minutes. It might seem gross to some BUT it’s better than the awful pain. I also drink Propel to replenish electrolytes when sweating a lot. Motrin works great for other areas.

Drink more water and try electrolyte type drinks.

Talk to your doctor, especially if home remedies aren’t working. Spasms and cramping can be symptoms of artery disease, electrolyte imbalance, or dehydration, all serious conditions.

Magnesium helps me for leg spasms. I had bad cramps from every prescription I took for high cholesterol. Stopped the medications and cramps were gone. Medications can have bad side effects.

For muscle cramps, just regular muscle cramps drink pickle juice. I have heard it works. Though I never had to take it, I don’t even like pickles or the smell of pickles.

Maybe look to something missing in your diet, you mentioned potassium and magnesium, what about calcium? electrolytes?

Try about 4 oz of tonic water before bed. The quinine helps leg cramps. You can also get naturopathic quinine tablets, but the tonic water works faster.

I’d try water first. Dehydration can cause cramps and spasms.

plenty of water you need to hydrated. not drinking enough water causes dehydration and it causes leg cramps and spasms.
