Is Secure with Soy Ok for those of us with thyroid disease?
I used to buy Andrew’s Secure bottles of protein shakes, but stopped when I cut out the bad sugars like sucralose, and switched to Stevia. Now that he uses Stevia, my question is about the Non GMO SOY protein that he still uses in his Secure shakes. I have had Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis for 20 years and I heard that Soy is a problem for those with thyroid disease, so I’ve been avoiding it. I’d love to buy his shakes again, but???
Can anyone address this please. Maybe even Andrew or someone from Pro Caps? Love his products, but don’t want to spend the money on something that tastes great, but hurts my health. Thank you!
I wouldn’t use anything with Splenda.
I saw my cousin (attorney) slide across a table at a posh restaurant. He yanked a Splenda package out of his 5 year-old hands.
It was embarrassing, but it confirmed what I know about Splenda.
When I purchase vitamins, food items, etc., I am always reading the labels. I not only have a thyroid problem, but am allergic to sulfites and strawberries. My husband is now pre-diabetic and I not only watch the sugars but the carbs as well. Yes, I love stevia or truvia and will not purchase anything with an ose at the end. To me, that is extra sugars and NOT a sugar substitute. In his Secure products there are 5 grams of sucralose and 5 grams of added sugars. No wonder people flock to this and say it is absolutely delicious. I would love to see no added sugars and no
xylitol on products.
Thank you all for your advice and information. I thought that since Andrew is selling his Stevia product, Sucress that he was heeding our suggestions to use Stevia in his Secure shakes in lieu of fructose, and other very bad for you sugars. Obviously not! I’ve been using Stevia for years due to several autoimmune diseases, and have cut out all bad sugars which cause inflammation .
You would think that at the high price Andrew is charging for his shakes, he was using Stevia not ‘bad sugars’. Oh well, this is why I stopped buying his Jugs of Secure years ago and only get ‘Clean’ protein from Dr Amy Myers’ website.
Again, thank you all for clearing this up, as well as agreeing that Soy is bad for thyroid disease.
I think the stevia confusion began because the TS includes the new Sucrose packets. I emailed HSN customer service and they mentioned they had read there was sucrose (which is like sttevia) included in the TS – but it’s not in Secure. I then checked the ingredients and found that almost half the calories in Secure come from carbs (sugars). The second ingredient listed is Fructose, then Vegetable Creamer, then Artificial Flavor; further down the list is Sucralose (Sjplenda). I agree with Andrew that Secure tastes good and I seem to have become addicted to my morning shake so I am going to once again order my 300 shakes and accept the fact that I am adding 30 carb calories to my day. Chances are that if those 8 carb grams were removed, Secure would be healthier but not enjoyable.
Good Morning Everyone,
I came here this morning specifically to ask if Andrew is using Stevia in his Secure. Thank you all so much for providing the information on what type of sweetener Andrew is using in Secure. I have the 300 meal size in my shopping cart to use each day during lunch hour at work but will now remove it. I have sugar as well as health sensitivities and only use Stevia.
Thanks again, this board and my fellow customers have saved me time, money and negative health problems.
I would never take soy no matter what he says. After all he is salesman. His ingredients in his shakes like someone else says is garbage. If you have a thyroid condition do not take soy. I also wrote tp hime to change to another sweetener like stevia and also got no answer.
I hope it’s true that Andrew has switched to Stevia but would like to know how you got that information janiebyrd. Would be so happy if it were true.
janiebyrd, why not go to Andrew’s website: http://www.procapslabs.com to pose this question. He does have a live chat area and that person may be able to help. Or you can call: 1-800-800-1200
His staff is quite knowledgeable and may be able to help with the soy question and the sugar substitute.
I just checked the Secure and as far as I can tell he is still using sucralose. You may want to ask if he will be switching to Stevia.
I checked today also and saw Sucralose and Acesulfame Potassium. Another nasty artificial sweetener. I wrote him a few years ago about this and if he would switch to Stevia. No reply! He touts how long he’s spent perfecting the taste of these shakes. Fails to tell people the in them. I now buy clean protein shakes from another company that’s delicious and truly good for the body. Cheaper too!!!
Where do you see he’s using Stevia now instead of garbage Sucralose?
