Tough changes on HSN
I’ve loved shopping on HSN for a decades and was excited to see growth with the move to PA. But I’ve noticed the opposite, the stage team is so disorganized, the new models do not engage smoothly with the camera or hosts. They are seem disengaged. How can the stage team not have the sizes on hand for the hosts or models. Management better listen to its employees and customers or soon they will be filing bankruptcy.

I woke up this morning and checked to see if those two pending unwarranted charges dropped off. They have not! Wow! It sure does take a long time (or perhaps I am impatient)? I also noticed that somebody at HSN gave me $25.00 spendable kash. While I think that is a very kind gesture (and it sort makes me feel better, but won’t feel good til the error is corrected), I will not be taking advantage of it. All I want is those two unwarranted pending charges of seven something dollars and eight something dollars to drop off and NO REPEATS next month as the necessary flex payments were reinstated. Nobody likes to be “double charged” …. know what I mean. However, whoever thought of me and placed $25.00 in spendable kash for me, THANK YOU very much for the thought. I just want the pending unwarranted charges to drop off and NOT have to continually watch my HSN credit card wondering what is going to pop up next. Every one of us makes mistakes, but I just want this to be corrected and finalized. I do value my reputation in the financial community and do not want it scarred because HSN made a mistake. Thanks.

Paticas01,
I, too, have loved shopping at HSN for several years, but, man oh man, I am very annoyed at them right now. (My posts on this topic are posted here and state why). If HSN does not straighten up, I will most likely not be ordering much of anything from them, if anything at all. I will be cancelling a couple of auto-ships that I have with them if they do not correct their error on my exchange (which had to be exchanged because HSN mistakenly sent me the WRONG magnification in the reader set that I ordered). I am hoping that HSN comes through, because I still like HSN. But, hey, the ball is in their corner now.

My lastest order didn’t have a return label in it. Unfortunately, the item doesn’t fit so I need to return it. Now, I have to print the return label (generic one) and return at my own expense. Yes, I realize we have to pay return postage, but it was set at a determined price. Now, we’ll have to pay return shipping upfront when sending something back. Buyer beware.
-
Under the Customer Service tab on this forum, someone posted about the cost of return shipping. The Moderator said “Please note that not all of our vendors participate in the Easy Return program, so not all items will qualify for pre-paid shipping labels.” Buyer beware!

Thanks, ennui. What has happened to HSN?
I will be sure to only order what I intend to keep.

Why do I prefer HSN, in the last 2 days I received 2 very useful coupons, dont get that from Q and free shipping on so many items. I stopped ordering from Q 13 years ago, but have never stopped buying from HSN.

I didn’t get any coupons. Lucky you!

It is ashamed that things appear to be headed in the wrong direction. I have the idea that HSN is not so fun. I feel rather bad for people who are employed there. I still want to like HSN. I believe that their concept of making it a nice place to shop is a good one. I think that HSN is being absorbed by QVC unfortunately. And not to offend, but I just could not get into shopping with QVC. Last month, I did an exchange with HSN on a readers set and HSN sent me the wrong magnification. Well, I understand that mistakes happen sometimes. However, I sent the set back as an exchange and, for some strange reason, HSN treated it as a straight return when I had clearly INDICATED ON THE PAPERWORK that it was an EXCHANGE. Hopefully, after a phone call and 5 or more chats, it has been straightened out. HSN did reinstate the flex pays they took off (when they treated it as a return, NOT as an exchange AS indicated on the paperwork). However, today, I spotted two additional charges on my HSN credit card that are pending that I do not recognize. I have NO idea what HSN is doing. I wonder if they know what they doing? If and when these charges are posted, I guess I will find out as they seem to fill in the description after charges being posted, not while pending (credit card website in “activities”). In the meanwhile, I am in limbo. I wanted to purchase some particular items from HSN, but until everything is straightened out (AND I MEAN everything), I will NOT be purchasing anything at all. Hopefully, things will fall into place, and I can go ahead and order. But, if not, other merchants do carry what I need.

Well, here it is, about 4 days later, and the two strange pending charges are still pending. I did break and have yet another CHAT with HSN day before yesterday. The Rep was nice (not her fault). She found out that the two pending charges are related to my EXCHANGE that HSN erroneously treated as a return. I let her know that I thought everything was ALREADY corrected …. that the flex pays HSN erroneously dropped and the payment made on the readers that had been erroneously reimbursed by HSN was ALL reinstated AND THAT THERE SHOULD BE NO MORE CHARGES. Hopefully, these two erroneous pending charges drop off soon. I am running out of patience for this type of incompetence that HSN seems to be exhibiting lately. Mistakes happen and that is understandable within itself, but it should not be this difficult to correct. All I can do is explain it to HSN but I can’t understand for HSN. What makes it bad is there is really no way to talk to the initial individual who actually made the error. But then, again, it probably would make no difference anyway! No, HSN is NOT fun.

Funny thing is, QVC was never better in rhe quality department than HSN. It was an illusion that QVC wanted to maintain with the Quality Value Convenience. HSN and QVC were always just about equal in the quality. It would go up and down, but QVC was never classier than HSN, except in the viewers’ perception. It was marketing.
-
You are right. They built the perception that QVC had better merchandise. They brought in a lot of vendors from NY like Dennis Basso, Laura Geller, etc. Then they used Lisa Robertson to be an It girl. She started using the term Ladies’ Who Lunch(in NYC). I really liked Lisa when I first started watching the Q.
When she started changed, I did too. That’s when I started watching HSN more. They
seemed to cater to the average person and they had better prices. Mindy Grossman did her best to save HSN. After she left, HSN has gone downhill. It is sad for those who remember the good old days. -
I think it was Joan Rivers who started the “ladies who lunch” term, not Lisa.
I once preferred QVC — better jewelry, better makeup (I still miss those Bare Minerals TSV’s with Leslie Blodgett). HSN had Tootie. Now I shop elsewhere; I think tv shopping is dying.

I also have been shopping with HSN for decades. I found it better than the Q, though my mom would have begged differently. The set designs are not always interesting and the amount of space per segment just seems cramped. I remember the first time I was able to watch HSN without the use of cable and the excitement that ensued. Then with the advent of QVC, HSN became a loose end. The owners could care less what happened to that shopping network since all $$$ were going into QVC. My mom (may she RIP) would always comment on HSN being a nothing and QVC was the Cadillac or in those days “Lord & Taylor.” She would always remark “how can anyone in their right mind purchase something from a basement store.” She didin'[t like Filene’s Basement, but give her Lohman’s, Oh MY !!!! I remember when Barry Diller came along and bought what was left prior to a bankruptcy of HSN. Things changed for the better. Good designers for clothing. Great gold and sterling pieces. Electronics and home decor were next and the rest was history. .Shopping was quite the experience. I used to spend loads and never questioned what I purchased. Today, not so much. I have found other designers where the shipping is free and so are the returns no matter what the reason. The Home Shopping Channel for the most part has been a letdown for the last three or four years. Oh, yes, I was the one who said that the move probably was because of the many hurricanes we have had over the years. But guess what, that move probably cost them more than those hurricanes and now, beginning October 1st, no taxes on a business which would help to save the necessary $$$ for better quality items, or in case of a hurricane, additional $$ to go towarss expenses. So sad.
-
I have always preferred QVC to HSN in the past because I felt that their quality was superior. But since the move, I am shopping more at HSN. Why? The pricing is better. They are shipping faster, etc. I find that QVC’s pricing is getting out of control, and if one of the two goes out of business, it will be QVC and not HSN.

It would be awful for those who relocated if they lost their job. Some may like PA better than Florida. If they don’t,it would be truly sad.

Well, the third quarter ends in a couple of days. Your observation is interesting. I get the feeling HSN doesn’t really care anymore. I thought the new hosts would bring some excitement but that hasn’t happened. Yesterday was free shipping and I didn’t order anything. I did order a lot of clearance items but I don’t plan on ordering anything with shipping unless I feel it’s a great deal. At this point I don’t need any more.
-
Yes, that’s the sense that I get as well. The management doesn’t care anymore. It’s a shame, many of the hosts from Florida brought so much energy and enthusiasm into their programs and products being offered.
