Reviews Not Good
I’ve avoided several TS’s because I’ve learned not to let what the host say, override what my eyes see.
Avoided Bethenny Frankels denim joggers and her most recent straight leg. Both due to fit.
Avoided Rhonda Shear’s lounge set. Thought it looked cheesy.
Really avoided Colleen Lopez’s teddy coat. Horrible quality even through the t.v.
Really avoided DG2’s trifit bootleg. Thought sizing would be a problem.
Reviews reflect what I was thinking.
What is happening to HSN?
Fit has become a huge issue…which is one thing I thought they did better than the other shopping channels.
Quality is another.
All the hype in the presentations is getting old.
And Colleen asking the models their opinion doesn’t help. It would if I heard at least one time, someone say, this piece is horrible. Instead EVERYONE agrees how wonderful it is? Please!
Also, even the models sizes have changed.
Annette and Kenya used to be sized large now I’ve seen presentations when host said they were in 1X?!?
I did purchase a pair of the Jessica Simpson combat boots and they fit fine but clothing is too much of a hassle.
I have definitely been purchasing less clothing.

skingirl havent been on here in a long while, but recall your name. Yep. I agree with all you wrote & have a few more items I have seen as terribly poor quality. Past 6 mos I have purchased only 5 items from hsn & qvc, & they certainly were not clothing. Guess both sites feel they have monopolized tv shopping. NOT. World at our fingertips I now just search what I need. DG2? ugh. Havent purchased that brand in years.Hmm, due to the fact our skin is our largest organ, I will no longer wear anything but skin safe fabrics, so have only purchased some Isaac tops, however that product is declining in quality as well, so I have for the most part moved on & continue online searching for the quality I desire. Surprisingly have found what I desire.

I ave been a long time fan and c supporter of. DG2 however, I have been unhappy and disappointed in the last year or two related to related to her tops . The quality has declined you can notice short cuts. For example, easy tops used to have all around layers layers. Now they have a fabric in the back which is the same fabric as the sleeves however, not quality and easily stretches out and becomes very pilly after a few of washes. Yet, prices are increasing!

I love a lot of the clothes, but a few of the models I could do without. I think Sayla is over the top she seems to make it more about herself and not the clothes. She needs to tone it down. I tend to turn away when she is on.
-
That’s funny, I think Sayla is fun to watch because she is over-the-top. She is a curvy woman with lots of confidence, who brings joy and pizzazz.

Well the models fluctuate in size as well as we do I’m not not always the same size. Those models probably gained a few pounds and had to wear a larger size. Sometimes they also say they didn’t have the size that the model war in the samples or whatever so they put on the larger size and they always let you know that for the most part.

it is the hosts job to sell the items presented. It is your job to make the decision to purchase . You have to go under the details, measurement guide , look at the fabrication and decide if the fit guide and figure out if the garment will fit you or look good on your figure. Also it is simple math, is the value worth it ?
-
I am in total agreement with you. The hosts continue to play up the merchandise and it comes across so phony and false. And certain hosts does it more than others.
-
One of the things that bothers me is when the host says I get two or three get one in all the colors for this price. I’m sitting there deciding if I should get one and they want you to get two or three lol although they’re just doing their jobs this is what they get paid to do so the products so who knows they probably get a commission as well on what sold during there time on air not sure about that though.
-
The job of the host is to sell, sell , sell. Your job is to decide if you want to purchase. I understand a hard sell and that is a turn off, I agree. I also dislike on the Q when they keep repeating that there are only X amount of the items left and this many of the items are sold interrupting the vendor. When we choose to shop online unless free ship we run the risk of having to have the return and ship fees. Retail doesn’t have that penalty

I thought I was the only viewer who noticed how tight some of the clothes fit on the models. I have purchased some items from Ebay that were no longer available on HSN. It seems that these clothes were made a while back, and the quality was much better. Oh, and you can return the items much easier than returns on HSN. I bought several Iman pants with the tags still attached and was very pleased with my purchases.

Yes, clothing in general has gone down in quality to keep the prices the same. Inflation and lack of supply has increased costs. I am now ordering more and more from Land’s End. Even they had a quality issue after the last recession and I stopped ordering from LE then. I can’t always wear LE pants, they are not cut right but I just got some of their cotton leggings and they are well made and nice fit and quality. LE long underwear has gotten cheaper quality and worse fit. I used to order pants from Coldwater Creek because they were heavier fabric and high quality and fit great but after they came back from being out of business, their stuff is cheaper quality and bad fit. Everything seems a size smaller than the old. Same with the high cost well known brands in stores. So I don’t believe this is just HSN.
About a year ago, I got Iman’s Ponte boot cut pants and the fabric is nice and heavy and it fits like a dream. Some are still on clearance now. But now when I see Iman’s line, the fabric looks very thin and they dress the models in tight tight pants so you can see the outline of their thighs and knees and the ripples where it pulls from side to side. If you look closely at the pictures online, you can see how thin the pants fabric is. Often the models have on a jacket or long sweater to cover how the rear looks or how the hips look.

Actually, I enjoy hearing the models talk. It’s a chance to see their personalities and not just a mannequin on display. Do I believe their opinions? No. Do I believe the vendor and the host? No. They are all there to sell a product. That’s the name of the game.
-
I tend to send more items back to QVC than to HSN, but honestly the quality from both are hit or miss for me lately. For the record. Not your Daughters jeans just introduced their trifit jeans so I also tried theirs, but haven’t received yet. I will compare both lines. On the other items, I tend to agree.
-
Oh yes, DesiM, I totally agree with you!!! Do they think we honestly believe the opinions of the paid models?? I picture them ripping off some of the clothes they are forced to model as soon as they’re in the dressing rooms.

“What is happening to HSN?” you ask.
HSN has been steadily going down the drain for quite some time. Ever since Mindy Grossman left, quality and selection have taken a huge dive. I used to be a devoted watcher and have purchased thousands of dollars of merchandise over the past 20 years or so, but no more. Most of the vendors I enjoyed watching have long since departed, and most of their replacements have been uninspiring, in my view.
And, fwiw, I don’t really care what what the models think.

ITA
And btw Why do they keep up these old threads??

I have returned several articles of clothing to HSN. I agree that the garment measurement charts are not accurate and quite miss leading. With the outrageous return charges and long waits for a credit to be applied to your account, I just don’t buy HSN clothing anymore. I’m often tempted to “bite the bullet”…but too many returns changed my mind!!!
-
Every item has a specific measurement guide under the listing . Not every brand is the HSN fit. Also listen to the vendor or the host when presenting , they will state if the item is an HSN fit or a national brand fit.

I don’t watch hsn, but I have bought some clothing from their website and had to send everything back due to poor quality and fit. I went by their measurement charts, but apparently they didn’t go by those same charts when they made the garments, and the fabrics were mostly cheap and thin with no give in them. I also bought a few dresses from qvc and thought the quality and fit were a lot better, and although I could have worn the size I ordered I did exchange them for the next smaller size and thought they looked better without the extra fabric and have kept them.
