Quality Matters
I did most of my Christmas shopping this year the old fashioned way…brick and mortar. I couldn’t afford to buy into illusions when it came to the gifts for the people I love. I did buy the Sketchers TS. Watched both host and vendor ewwww and ahhhhhh over the cozy foot bed. I purchased the gray for me and the rose gold for my son’s girlfriend. I received them and thought they looked gorgeous! But the comfort level was NOT what was presented. Don’t get me wrong, they are not uncomfortable, just waaaaay exaggerated from the presentation. The memory foam is a slither. See reviews.
Now the good news…
I had been eyeing Rara Avis, 613-206 for quite awhile. Marked down to $120!!! Whaaaa???? Purchased the teal/brown size large. I also purchased the Marla Wynne TS, the same day in scarlet red, 638-793 also size large. HSN was offering free shipping when purchasing $75 or more.
Recieved both coats/jackets today. Straight quality!
I said all of this to say, there are some vendors who just get it right. The sizing for their brand is consistent. The quality is consistent. No stinky chemical smells regardless of color.
And yes, I know we each have different taste and tolerance levels. But for those of us who choose to believe in the “sales presentation” of the vendor, Rara and Marla, tend to get it right. Maybe it’s a New York thing?.?. Not sure. But I thank you!

Oh my this was a breath of fresh air as my Grandmother would say. I bought Marlawynne velvet leggings, white poplin top, the Sheryl Crow trench coat in snake faux suede and the Mongolian Fur camel coat in the full dress length. Adrienne L.. has a place on 5th Avenue in New York. It is absolutely stunning. The favorite item was the trench coat that was thin as paper and feels like a silk suede of outstanding quality. Although she is a rock star she has a team that designs things from her closet….she selects fabulous fabrics that her team of designers that I’m sure are New York based. I’m totally with you on the vendors and the quality clothes mailed out to you. Marlas things along with Sheryl’s came packed as if you ordered them from Saks or Neiman’s. Be selective and don’t count HSN out yet, and my Rara Avis things are simply fabulous. The dress and sweaters she had on the other night were beautiful. I just can’t get everything, of course. Not a strange smell on anything! Yea! Keep it up with the quality vendors…. I just watch my shows during these presentations! Thanks Skingirl13, Happy New Year! 🎊

@jackiebouvier, I totally agree about those Matla leggings and poplin top…so beautiful.
I haven’t given up on HSN. I do find myself shopping less however. This time last year, I owed them a house note!
Anyway, wishing you and all whom you love peace and prosperity this New Year.

Iris Apfel ( Rara Avis) is an icon of the fabric industry and HSN is lucky to have her as a vendor.
As a New Yorker, and also I was in the same textile industry (home furnishing in this case) as she,
I know, how much her talent was admired by many. She has an incrediable eyes for fashion and her selections of textile is superb. So, when you own her stuff, you know that it’s one of kind. It also tells you that you have a great taste. . She used to be a lot more talkative with a great sense of humour, now at 98 she still going strong. God bless her !-
Hi Rustythedog. Love your screen name by the way. Yes, it definitely shows that she is into textiles.
I watched a documentary featuring her on Netflix awhile back that also featured this point.
What a life she has lived. So glad she is still here and contributing to our fashion world.
Happy New Year!

Hi Skingirl13,
Rusty was my Cocker Spaniel that is in Heaven now. Thank you.!
I am so glad you watched the documentary of Iris Apfel. She and her husband used to own the most unique and beautiful fabric house in the Design Ctr in NY. The fabric sells to the world exculusively including the White House, and name a few.
She knows the every weaving mills around the globe and she hunts down them whenever she needs to create and make the beautiful fabrics for either home or fashion.
So you should be proud of wearing her creation. It s a wearable art! This incrediable lady is a larger than life and HSN is so lucky to have her. A happy New Year !

I agree about the Sketchers. There was very little memory foam. I had some memory foam inserts that made all the difference. I am still debating on keeping them. Will ne v er buy shoes from HSN again. Very disappointed in the vendor who raved about the comfort. Sad you can’t trust anyone anymore.

@kelscuddles, did you see that little puffy memory foam attachment to the shoe? LOL!!! WTH! That was more cushiony than the foot bed. I hope one day someone will do a documentary on the various shopping networks. Would be interesting to see how they all sit around the board table determining how to pitch various products.
Wishing you a Happy and prosperous Nw Year

I adore Iris. I have a dress she designed with little tuffs of fabric sticking out all over it. Gorgeous! I also have a great open weave grey sweater. She makes me so happy! Thanks for the great information. I was a fashion major in college and love people that know what they are talking about and enjoy and respect the influences of such an icon as Iris, Happy New Year,
