Jeans without hems
I hate the growing trend of jeans without hems. To me, the frayed edge looks tacky unless you are very young. The trend used to be sporadic, offering both styles, finished and unfinished. Now no hem seems to be a major trend. Sorry. I will not buy them – ever! I like my jeans finished AND a proper length, not always above the ankle or, worse yet, cropped. I suspect it is a cost cutting technique BUT if you don’t have customers to buy them all, then no one is saving money.

I don’t like that neither. It looks sloppy! However, I did buy some DG jeans a year or two ago that had embroidered butterflies that happened to have an unfinished hem. I finished the hem myself using my heavy duty sewing machine. (The length was just right after I finished the hem). Nobody will never know about the unfinished hem on those pair of jeans … unless, of course, I happen to tell them.

I am in my 70’s. In my 20’s all of my jeans were frayed as I am 5’1″ & had to cut them.
I had tried hemming as I aged, however cheap sewing machine didnt fare well doing so.
I wont wear frayed now-except one pair I bought cropped with lovely embroidery, but hem not only frayed but about 3″ shorter on outer edge of hem & omg made me look bow legged, so I just cut them even. Yes many cost cutting techniques now that designers attempt to pass as new fashion. The dropped shoulder is one. No sewing on sleeves saves lotsa $, but on me with small shoulders look awful. Also seems nobody bothers to put darts on garments anymore which I abhor. 50 years ago the only clothing without darts were t shirts!! Cant recall her name, but another movie star turned designer selling jackets-that had buttons on right side (as mens do) dunno cost saving or boo boo, but would have driven me coo coo. -
I think HSN has forgotten the customer base that made them. I understand wanting to build a more youthful clientele for the future but why forget your existing base. I use to buy a lot of jeans here AND I really need some boot cut ones now but I still won’t purchase jeans that are frayed – EVER!
