HUE Sizing

I bought the 2 sided jeans with the snakeskin pattern on one side HUE brand. I have DG2, Iman, and Democracy jeans. I am tall, and wear XL to 1X. With HUE I ordered 1X. Received them yesterday and they looked small without much stretch. Tried them on and could not get them to my hips. I looked at the tag in the jeans and it stated 1x. The paper tag stated the same and I looked at the sizing on the paper tag. They should have fit. I would say these were a 12-14 in size. Even 3x would not have fit. Anyone else have an issue? If not, I will send them back and exchange thinking wrong size was marked. The pattern is beautiful.
