Help with Selfie Stick Tripod Combo with Bluetooth Remote 715-178

Hello all…does anyone have this selfie stick and can help me? I am trying to figure out how to turn the phone holder piece to go vertically rather than horizontally. I’d like the phone to be up and down and not on its side. I watched the presentation again and they show it both ways but didn’t mention how to do it. I would assume it’s just a matter of turning it, but mine turns just a little bit in each direction, but doesn’t turn all the way. There is a lot of resistance when I try and turn it. What looks to be a button on the back, is just hard plastic and doesn’t depress. Help anyone?
