Overcharged
Beware using an HSN coupon. I tried, using one that was mailed to me (a “special customer”), and found a $10 overcharge levied against my bank account. The reply from Customer “Service”?–“Oh, that’s just how we charge items”. Supposedly, the overcharge will be corrected “automatically” within 72 hours.
And when I asked who I bill for the time I spent fighting an overcharge, (plus more time checking my bank records to monitor this overcharge), the reply was “There is no one to bill.”
Hey, HSN–when you wonder where your customers went, remember… “There is no one to bill.”

We completely understand why seeing a higher authorization amount would be concerning. Temporary authorizations are a standard part of many card transactions and do not necessarily reflect the final amount charged. Once our overnight processing begins at midnight ET, the pending authorization is updated to reflect the correct order total. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, and we’ve passed your concerns along to our leadership team for review.

Here’s a thought: instead of a “temporary high authorization… before any discounts or promotions are applied”, why not just use the accurate, real total from the start?

I’m sorry for the frustration and confusion this caused, Arizona303! What you’re seeing is a temporary high authorization, which reflects the total before any discounts or promotions are applied. We adjust the order total before the end of each day and release the authorization at that time. Please note that the high authorization is not an actual charge that posts to your account, it will remain as a pending charge and then be released. The official charge will only process once your order is ready to ship. We appreciate your understanding!
