HSN has ruined Crafting Days
I am SO SICK of the hyper focus on card marking! OY! It is boring AF!
HSN acts as if card making is the ONLY craft in America! EVERYONE I know scrapbooks, they don’t make cards and yet those crafters are NEVER included in the product lineup on all day crafting days!
Such a HUGE disappointment!

Cards can easily be bought at The Dollar Tree a homemade scrapbook is a family heirloom!
-
I think scrap booking has waned because you can only have so many scrapbooks and where do you put them all. Cards can be designed for every occasion which are endless. I do miss the variety of the vendors that have been dropped or are missing. I wouldn’t mind seeing some new blood. I am also retired and on a fixed income now so every month craft shows are not viable for me. I love the HSN shows though, I always learn something to add to my creativity.

Perhaps craft day needs new vendors. I loved Hunkydory products but for some reason they were pulled from HSNs listing. What happened? How about these companies: Hot Off the Press, Graphic 45 or Creative and. HSN uses too many UK vendors. Save the tariffs and use Made in
the US companies. -
WOW!
Perhaps the VIP, CEO’s, VP of Marketing, etc will see past your vitriol commentary and observe their shows from a different perspective and see the foundation of what you say does have merit. One of the biggest mistakes JoAnn’s made was allowing the investors to run the store’s focus. Granted the fabric vs craft was distinctly divided when entered the store, so you could quickly get to the yarn, fabric etc. BUT they did not curate the next generation of shoppers or even inspire learning new techniques, or even entering into the world of sewing or yarn skills, or even product awareness.
Michael’s is doing similarly and worse. Their sewing products have a back seat to all the other products which are predictably “Michael’s” forte. But they have backed off on instructions.
HSN has the advantage of a studio so products can be demonstrated – as they do now. And perhaps the yarn and fabric companies don’t want to dedicate the time and thoughts to supplying HSN with talent to showcase their products.

Do you think my post Was “vitriol criticism?” (Meaning: bitterly harsh or caustic language)

I agree………there are other HOBBIES! Crocheting, knitting, beading , needle point, quilting, painting to name a few! Way too much of one brand. Diamond Press had over 40 new items. Way too many at one time. Spread it out thru the months, instead of a 24 hour period, so crafters can afford to shop. Some are on a fixed income and can’t afford to spend so much at one time. There are so so many crafting vendors at HSN a nice variety would be great. I notice some vendors are no longer on HSN……Tonic Studios, We R Memory Makers, Spellbinders. Lisa Horton.

Each time HSN has a ‘Craft Day’ the ENTIRE day is centered around card making. Few products that have nothing to do with card making are ever aired. It is SO boring and predictable. I don’t even watch anymore.
This hyper focus on “Card making” destroyed the Paper Craft industry and they have no one to blame but themselves. First Tuesday Morning which carried great craft products went under, then JoAnne’s went under, next up Michael’s.
Craft stores cannot stay in business when only ONE craft is CONSTANTLY being hyped. SO BORING! YAWN!

HSN is boring and predictable, but I guess you didn’t notice. Same TS every year, over and over. Oh, look, it’s Tarte and lip products. What a surprise.

Wait! I love card making & don’t scrapbook so please don’t knock it. Scrapbooks is great for some but not everyone. Let’s have both:) My grandchildren love the cards I make as I always find a place to put their faces in it and design with their favorite interest that year. It’s become a tradition & they scream ‘that’s my face in it’. Isn’t the same as a store bought card.

I think the bankruptcy filing ruined craft days.
-
I think tariffs and inflation hurt craft days. I think things will get better since the Courts ruled against the tariffs, and manufacturers and retailers will get significant amounts returned to them.
