Can you use Anna Griffin dies in the Gemini?
When I first got the Gemini I tried using my Anna Griffin dies in it. Like others, I found it warped my plated terribly and cut my embossing mat. I was trying to use the sandwich provided for die cutting and embossing. I have realized that Anna Griffin dies must be thicker than CC dies. I use my Anna Griffin dies less because they are so hard to crank through the Cuttlebug.
I am wondering if anyone else has found the correct sandwich to use Anna Griffin dies in the CC Gemini?

On the extending the life of your cutting plates life..if you have a couple of fairly deep cookie sheet pans, you boil water and let the plates sit in the water a bit with weight on top, it flattens the plates as well as cleaning all the paper bits out of the plates too. If you have a large flat sink, that can be used too, adding weight again but you want the plates to be absolutely flat. I’ve seen it work wonderfully.

I use AG dies in my Gemini. I do have to play around with the sandwich. I don’t generally use the magnetic mat for the same reason others mentioned. I don’t usually use the embossing mat either as it gets cut up no matter which dies I use. For me, because the regular plates get so warped, I use the CC double sided plates for almost everything. They are much sturdier and a little thinner. I also have AG cut and emboss folders and use them in my Gemini. With the double sided plates. I don’t have a particular sandwich – just figure it out as I go!
To get the warping out of the regular CC plates I put them on a foil covered cookie sheet and bake them in a very low oven – 150-200 degrees for ten minutes. Once they’re flat I take them out and put under a clean baking sheet to cool and keep their new flatness. Don’t over bake! I’ve done that and they turn white. The process may shrink them a little and they may become a bit brittle. But it does extend their life! Bonus point – any paper that’s embedded in the plate will brush off after the plates cool!

Sara always mentions you can use Anna’s dies in the Gemini, but they are a couple of mil thicker than most of the other thin metal dies out there, so I’m not sure which sandwich to recommend myself, I would email CC and double check with them. Maybe leaving out the magnetic mat would help, as the other plastic shim seems thicker and may be too much, I’d try both and see if that works better for ya. 🙂

Thank you for your reply! I’ll play around with the sandwich again and maybe call CC. 🙂

I have AG Cut and Emboss folders, but only Gemini machines. Did you ever find an answer?
