Can you use this on a covered porch that is open to the outside?

Cindy, if your covered porch is not opened to the outdoor elements, you may be able to use it. If your patio is screened, I would not chance it because of the elements from Mother Nature. I do not think this is waterproofed. Also, remember that this screws into a light bulb socket. If it gets wet from rain, snow or sleet or even from humidity, it may not be the best choice for a patio.
