Carol Brody
Would someone please advise Carol Brody to stop with the word “literally”! She obviously doesn’t know the meaning because she is constantly using it incorrectly. I can’t listen any longer. She uses the word at nearly every other sentence. It is so annoying and ignorant. It is not just her either, the hosts use the word incorrectly also. (Notice, I did not say, “as well”, another over-used phrase on these shopping shows.) No, Carol, those earrings do not “literally” making your face glow! Stop already, please. It hurts my ears and NO, not literally!

@iflyswa, it is also the same with “so” and “actually”. I suppose you can equate it to the over use of “like” and “you know” from the 80s or “okay” from the early 2000s. It will pass and new crutch words will take over. I stress trying to over come the use of crutch words with all of my interns. When they hear themselves in a playback it’s an eye opener. Unfortunately people don’t realize the over use of words until they are told. In the end the crutch words are more palatable than the use of “um”. I’ve told them it’s best to remain silent and collect their thoughts before speaking. What comes out after a pause will be more accepted and respected.
