Uneducated Predigest comment made by Adrienne Arpel
I used Addriene Arpel creams for a while – found much better ones – stopped using them long time ago after she made a comment on national tv on one of the HSN shows about one of her creams in the green jar by saying ” this is a special recipe, not one of those invented recipes by some Romanian grandmother somewhere in a far away Romanian village …” Disgusting!!!
I’m a proud Romanian American leaving in the USA for 37 years . Unfortunately, like many ” Americans” she doesn’t know anything about Romanian culture ! Romania is not just about Dracula , Nadia Comaneci and some grand mother face cream recipe in the village … I don’t even know what in the world that means ! When she’s on , I change the channel .

I have a feeling she was trying to refer to Romani (Gypsy). Like snake oil. OR she was slamming the new kid in town – Mario Badescu. It sounded weird and that is never okay to put another country’s people on blast. If she was referring to her competition, that was just mean.

I totally agree with you. People are overly sensitive nowadays, just watch the news. I think they’re just looking for a reason to be offended. Whether you like Adrienne or not, it’s common sense that she was not trying to offend anyone.so give her a break. She will be retiring soon so the malcontents out there can find someone else to lash out at.

I think I know why Adrienne said what she said about Romanian grandmothers and skin care
she probably knew MARIO BADESCU skin care line was coming to HSN it premiered I believe today and it is a very old Romanian skin care line. MARIO BADESCU CAME FROM ROMANIA. She probably is competing with so many other skin care lines on HSN and she is probably not selling as much as she did and now, she is competing against Mario Badescu.
I was just wondering why she used Romanian grandmothers in her statement it made no sense but now it makes sense to me I may be wrong, but I am sure she doesn’t like the competition.
She has more money than she needs especially at her age & everything she has done in her life so she should be over her competitive stage in life. She can afford to live out two lifetimes with what she is probably worth financially.-

I did not hear the comment. Any inappropriate comment regarding someone’s background is unacceptable. Regarding her products, I have used some of her products for years. The ones I use are fine. There are probably better products, I just need to research them. As far as her retiring, she will be doing her thing until they discontinue her line. If there was not a market for it, they would not have her on, I guess. Sorry you felt hurt by her remarks. I have been offended by other hosts. I just turn them off.

Arpel is a hasbeen. Ignore her. I pity her face. No insult to any group or ethnicity should be tolerated.
I can’t stand her. Her whole schtick makes me want to empty my stomach contents on the floor.-
Some people just need to know when is time to retire … and everyone on tv needs to not just entrain us either on news channels or shopping channels but to entrain us in a professional manner ! I miss the good old days on HSN . Let’s be honest , some people have no business being on tv at all !

sorry mariella, if I heard a comment like this projected towards my heritage, I would probably raise my eyebrows as well. you can either press on or maybe just let it gently fade away. we all sometimes hear things said about us that we don’t approve of and yes, some of us more than others.

I really don’t think she meant anything by it at all. My husband’s wife was born in Romania; she has been living here for many years but still has a strong accent. She goes back once a year because her whole family still lives there and I do not believe she would have been offended at all.
We all react differently but I do not believe she meant anything against Romania or the Romanian people. They are very nice people.-
My “husbands wife” wouldnt that be you?
