PHYTOCERAMIDES ?
Do Phytoceramides supplements elevate cholesterol and triglyceride levels ?
My GP told me they do – HOWEVER – the GP’s info is from a med book and seems too generic not specific.
Any info on this is greatly appreciated.
Love to you all, have a great day 🙂

Found this info – Phytoceramides do not raise cholesterol. In fact, plant-derived ceramides are entirely different from cholesterol. They are structural lipids. When taken as oral supplements, they are processed in the digestive tract to support the skin’s moisture barrier from within. (from cell press)
Because phytoceramides act as plant lipids, they have a chemical structure related to phytosterols. These plant compounds are well-known to actively block cholesterol absorption in the gut. As a result, supplementing with phytoceramides typically has a neutral or mildly beneficial effect on your blood lipid profile (harvard health)
However, it is important to distinguish phytoceramides from the ceramides produced naturally by your own body. Your body uses ceramides in various cellular processes, and elevated endogenous (internally produced) ceramide levels are linked to a higher risk of heart disease and stroke. But eating plant-derived phytoceramides has not been shown to raise your body’s circulating ceramide levels or negatively impact cardiovascular health. (university of Utah health)
Good idea to have your lipids checked and keep track. 🙂 -

Why would you ask your doctor and then ignore what they say?

Thank you OODIEBOM. Procaps has great customer service, I take loads of Andrew’s products. But they suggested I ask my GP.
My cholesterol is fine, and I want to keep it that way – but love the idea of “Moisturizing” from the inside out..
Thank you again, 🙂 -
Your best bet would be to contact Prolabs directly. Their phone number is 1-800-800-1200. Or go to their website: wwwprocapslabs.com. Scroll down to the bottom where you can have a chat or ask a question. His staff is very knowledgeable.
