Fake diamonds
Noone will ever convince me that real diamonds are lab grown. As long as there are Absolutes, I don’t need to spend a ton of money. Prices on Bright Halo are out of hand. They seem to be trying awfully hard to sell. And some are set in silver. If i have to pay those prices, they better be in gold.

@azalea2016 yes, GIA and IGI both certify lab grown diamonds. They ARE REAL diamonds.
My 7 ct, 2 ct and 1 ct diamonds all have IGI because that’s what ShopLC does. GIA is more popular, obviously and more prestigious (aka more expensive) but they are both legitimate and accepted by jewelers, etc.

Just wondering. When purchasing lab grown diamonds, do you get a GIA certication?

Jewelers tell the difference between mined and lab grown diamonds diamonds with specialized instruments, looking for growth patterns and trace elements that differ among earth mined and created diamonds. They need tools like a microscope, spectroscopy, and a photoluminescence tester (I have no idea what this is). Lab grown diamonds are real diamonds. To me they’re a kind, a type, of diamonds, not fake.

Lab created diamonds are REAL DIAMONDS. The experts cannot tell them from the earth created diamonds unless they use the tool for that. Lab created diamonds are NOT perfect, but they do have more D-G VVS1/2 than Mother Nature creates. They are less expensive so people can actually afford a larger diamond than in years past.

Sharon818, agree. Agree with your post. Some confuse lab created diamonds with Moissanite or Cubic Zirconia but they all are great options depending on your needs.

Lab created diamonds are like lab created sapphires and lab created emeralds and lab created rubies. They don’t look the same as gemstones from the earth.
-
I own lab created diamonds, and they look better than mined diamonds. The ones I own are very white in color, and they sparkle beautifully.
-
That’s what I mean, though. Lab created stones don’t have any flaws, like those found in nature.
-
Absolutely, ennui. It is even more noticeable with lab rubies and sapphires. They look perfect, but even though, not fake, the color perfection and brilliance seem strange or sterile compared to Mother Nature’s gems. That said, I understand lab grown fans are considering how much more bang or bling they get for their budgets. Also, no need to certify “cruelty free” when lab grown.

Lab created diamonds do have flaws such as SI, slightly included, I included, color ranging from D flawless to H and I, slight color. In order to create the lab diamonds, they use the seed of a real mined diamond (carbon), and the machine heats it up much more quickly than the million plus years it takes for a mined diamond to grow. I love mine.
