This is a re-post for all to read. ✨✨Hi Sanibel and thanks so much for hosting. We are both fine and safe. Tuesday morning our hotel cancelled saying they were being told to evacuate. The hotel wasn’t in a flood zone but could be as I write this. We lost electricity around 9 am Wednesday morning. At the time Ian was miles away and the wind wasn’t bad . The wifi, cell phones, tv and landline all went an hour or so later. I was able to see my e-mail but unable to send a reply. Because of the pandemic we decided not to use a shelter when just before losing the electricity, the station we were watching showed people in the shelter without masks. Also, you needed to bring your own chairs, pillows, blankets and food with you. Just too much to carry when the rain had started. We are safe and as it turned out we were glad the decision we made to stay home worked to our advantage. We lost the roof over our lanai and a skylight was made in the corner of our den. Miraculously we were able to move the furniture to another area and though wet, the water made tiny bubbles on the surface, thus making any form of precipitation from penetrating the wood. I hate to think what would have happened if we were in a hotel or shelter until Friday. I do not ever recall the wind changing directions so often as this hurricane. The wind in the beginning ran East to West. In the afternoon it was West to East. Then in the early evening/late afternoon it went from North to South. Thankfully, both of us are OK. Between flashlights and candles we made it through those awful couple of days. I have never witnessed wind that was so relentless and scary. The rain, torrential, never ending. This storm seemed to be mad at the world and unleashed a powerful, massive, deluge of water. Thankfully, we are fine. And on that note hope to see you on Friday for a good game of Trivia.
Pleasant dreams. May you enjoy the week ahead. -
Wish we knew at least the town that Oodiebom lives in. All we can do is pray.💜🙏💙
I think I know her county, but I’ll have to reread her posts..-
I believe it’s Manatee County, FL.

I also hope Oodiebom is okay. I thought she had mentioned that she might go somewhere, but I think where she went, if she did, might have been hit also.,
