HSN Fashion Designers 2000 -2010

This was interesting to read. I think the last recession in 08 to what, 12? did a number on a lot of brands. Things got cheaper quality to attract buyers. I am looking at all of the designers this year on the TV and noticing that all of them seem to have gone to thinner fabrics. The fit on the models is camouflaged by jackets or sweaters. I see the young women in “business” clothing at various places that I do business in and their clothing is the cheap thin materials. I realize salaries are not as high as they should be and with the high cost of rent, people don’t have tons of money to blow on clothing twice the price of HSN. But I also remember when clothing fit was more flattering. I also liked the old Sporto boots from about 4 years ago.

I will say that Marla Wynne and Antthony both design for the older woman who wants the more traditional look, although on TV, both of their fabrics now seem to be the thin stuff. Marla’s clothing is for women who are big on the top and small on the bottom and like their pants above the ankle. Antthony’s styles look classier or old style professional to me meant to float over full figures and look graceful. I don’t wear either designer because of fit. It seems to me that the new designers and Coleen and Iman are aiming at the younger crowd. I suspect some designers are not selling as well as they used to.

I too still have Twiggy, Serena Williams, and others from years past. I have lovely items from Curation Caravan and from The set by Dannell Lawson. Also Sporto made some really nice boots and jackets a few years back that are still my favorite go to items.

I totally agree. However, hands down, HSN’s fashion still surpasses the frumpy matronly designs found on QVC. Anttony, Marla Wynne and some others offer items that have some fashion sense. I’m still hoping that HSN better qualities will rub off on QVC and not the other way around. Unfortunately, I think I’m living on false hope.

Yes, I agree that Terry Lewis and Twiggy were 2 of my favorite designers and I still have some of their items that I still wear today. I do also agree that HSN was and still is more fashionable than QVC. Also, access to HSN exchanges is more evolved than QVC. I mean you have to return a QVC item before you can request an exchange,, which is very antiquated. QVC also locks your order so you can’t cancel it, when it is taking too long for shipping. Overall I do think that HSN is losing its edge with customer service and fashion line up, especially with filling air time with QVC products like Dooney and Burke and others. I will be sad when HSN loses all of its specialty, which may occur sooner than later.

This is all so true. I had totally forgotten about Randolph Duke – he had wonderful fashions.
And I kept a Terry Lewis raincoat until quite recently, it was such a classic (minus the shoulder pads of course!). Their clothes now are of no interest to me.

Big loss when Mindy Grossman left. HSN has really declined since her departure.

I still have Serena and Twiggy clothes. I love their sense of fashion design.

With the exception of Anthony and some DG2, no other vendor comes close to meeting the style I like.
