Recomendations for water-proofing suede boots
Can anyone recommend a good spray water-proofer for my suede boots? And if it’s cheap to reasonably priced, that would be even better because I have a lot of boots/shoes to treat.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
SLMangle, you can buy waterproofing spray at the grocery store (it will be in the aisle with shoe polish) for about $7 to spray on suede shoes and boots. You could also take them to your dry cleaners and have them apply waterproofing treatment which I would guess is about the same price. All of the dry cleaners in my area have a leather/shoe repair and refresh service. Unless you are planning on repeatedlywalking through over an inch of water they are probably OK as is. I have on a pair of wine colored suede shoes right now that are fine and I can’t count how many times they have been drenched!
Thank you, VelveteenRabbit! I would never have thought to look for it at the grocery, but I sure will now.
I’ve used some in the past that worked really well. (unfortunately, I can’t recall what it was) The last time I bought some, I bought a cheaper brand on Amazon (Gear Aid, Revivex) and I may as well have used water for how well it worked…every water drop sinks right into my treated footwear. I’m more miffed about wasting all the time it took more than the wasted money. I bought 5 or six bottles. UGH!!! lol
Have a nice weekend!
