You will feel better w/in hours (can that be possible)?
4kitties That is every childs dream. MMMMMM I used to love those strong syrupy Cherry or Vanilla Cokes. You are correct. I knew I just saw that cola syrup somewhere and it was the Vermont Country store catalog now that you mention it. I’m going to check at Whole Foods, Sprouts, Trader Joe’s or some place like that too today just to have some on hand.
My friend said that they were even closing schools down with the Flu being so bad this year.
Mine and my kids hands are literally raw from washing them so much.
Where do you buy the cola for the soda stream machine? I don’t have one, but I know what you mean. Like Kohl’s or something? Can you just buy the cola and not a set with all of the flavors?
I like the addition of either fresh or candied ginger root…in green tea or just plain hot water, lemon and the ginger.
For prevention of influenza nothing beats a flu shot. Also we need to wash our hands often and use hand sanitizers when that is not an option. Keeping your hands away from your face is also key. Alway cover your cough or sneeze in the bend of your arm so you are not spewing viruses all over the place. If you are sick STAY HOME and don’t spread your illness everywhere!
Other than that I brew peppermint tea with honey, eat chicken or other brothlike soup, drink lots of water, flat gingerale for a quesy stomach and lots of sleep.
I do like the warm citrus mix with the alcohol, at least if it does not cure you, the warm concotioin will comfort you. If you drink it in quanity, pretty soon you won’t care if you dont feel good.. I may make some just because it sounds good. :catlol:
I go to the chiro and get an adjustment. It shortens the time of a cold or flu.
I have found that if I stay in treatment, I do not gets colds or the flu. The maintenance of 1 to 2 visits in a month keep colds and the flu away from me.
In the past, when I did get a cold, I would take a multi vitamin and extra vitamin C. That helped to shorten the span of it and brought relief.
What is rock candy crystals?
Chicken soup and sipping blackberry brandy has always cured my colds.
Vicks VapoRub on chest, covered by warm thin towel (such as a dish towel), chicken soup (made-from-scratch or canned), hot tea with lemon and sugar, rest/naps.
I just mixed up:
Juice of one lemon (I used two)
Juice of one grapefruit
Juice of two temple oranges
1 TBSP or so of honey
**just juiced them all with one of those old hand crank juice king things from like the 50’s.
Pour into a small pot and bring to a boil while stirring.
Remove from heat and add an ounce of Rum or Brandy (so just like 2 TBSP)
Drink and go to bed under blankets.
I didn’t have rum, but I make my own Vavilla with Tahitian Vanilla beans and Knob Creek Whisky, so I just added a bit of that lol
If nothing else, it sure tastes delicious.
I’m going to go get all of the fixings for chicken soup too tomorrow.
i love emergen-c super orange vitamin c supplement (it is a powder that you dissolve in water and drink). i also use Triaminic brand cough syrup in conjunction with chloraseptic and/or cepacol throat lozenges. i drink lots of chamomile tea too. i hope that this helps!! xoxo.
