Symon Home 4.5-Quart Enameled Cast Iron Oval Dutch Oven
I haven’t watched the demos for this but it looks nice and pretty also. Anyone own it. Will a chicken fit in it with the lid on ? I love the cooler weather to slow roast a chicken.
I put it on a bed of veggies, seasoned and oil or butter drizzled on it, in my inherited cast iron skillet with aluminum foil on top ( I do not have a lid that fits ). I always have trouble keeping the foil tight after I check it a few times. I am thinking the above product would be easier with the lid . I just wonder if it is big enough.
If your Chicken is ‘whole’, around 4-lbs or more, setting on a bed of veggies, and you’re wanting to cover the pot with a lid, then you’ll need at least a 6-qt Dutch Oven.
Now then, if you cut the chicken down the backbone (called ‘butterflying’) and spread it across the veggies, this Dutch Oven would work perfectly.
p.s. You can ask the butcher at the market to ‘butterfly’ your chicken for you. They will do it free-of-charge.
It is so good to see you post. That chicken sounds yummy. ♥ Welcome back. ♥
This dutch oven is definitely large enough for a good size chicken with vegetables. The height is 4 1/2″ so I don’t know if there’s clearance to use the lid if the chicken is left whole.
Sorry, I cannot help with this particular product. However, if you go to the page that has the skillet, there may be a video from when it aired.
