MING TSAI REPLACEMENT PRESSURE COOKER GASKET/PARTS
I found the replacement gaskets and they work. They were purchased on Amazon.com for $9.99 each. I bought four because I bought two pressure cookers, one as a gift. Now I need to find the little silicone cap for the pressure indicator.
Two of the new gaskets have the letters T5/6-7 and the other two say T5/6-9. All four plastic bags have the same label with an identical barcode and below it X000J7FSJN. Below that it reads (with typo) Replacement Silicon Gaske…rt Pressure Cooker EPC-600, and below the word Replacement it says New. These were advertised for a Secura 6-quart pressure cooker, but after reading the reviews I saw people who owned Cook’s essential, Cuisinart, Emeril, and Montiel Williams post that it worked on their 6-quart units. I tried one of my replacement gaskets on my Ming Tsai units last night when making spare ribs and it worked great.
I still love this machine.
I did call Ingenious Designs again as the HSN Manager Kim had suggested under my customer service post. They will only replace the entire lid and that comes with a gasket. They will not send a gasket only. Furthermore, if it is past the one year from date of purchase manufacturers warranty, they will do nothing for you and you are on your own.
If you turn the unti over there is a silver lable that has I.S. Appliance, Inc. and Intertek on the bottom. I would bet that one of these is the name of the actual manufacturer of pressure cookers in China. I would also be curious to check the bottoms of some of the other pots out there to see if they have a label with the same name. I am sure that for the person that needs a replacement pot bacause she accidentally dropped hers, she can find one of those on ebay or Amazon because I have seen them. It may not have the ceramic coating, but I have seen other non-stick replacement pots as well as stainless ones. I am not endorsing the use of one of these, but I would guess that they would be interchangeable. Poor thing dropped and dented the pot that came with her Ming Tsai unit, but the company won’t sell her one, even though she admits it was her own fault and dumb luck. Unless she can find a replacement she has a $99. doorstop.
Please HSN, consider having a back up plan or phone number for your cuntomers. I am sure that would spread like wildfire and that you would outsell you competitiors based on that alone.
I have the Elite 8 qt pressure cooker and love it No problems and have had it about a year. Checked on the bottom and it says "Intertek". So many of the parts could be interchangeable. I’ll keep it in mind about Amazon having the gaskets. Thanks Phumswife.
EDIT: BTW I use it alllllll the time, more than any other cooking appliance that I have.
Good job, I found the gasket you mentioned in your post and intend to get a least one even though my machine is new only used twice but I am impressed with how silent it is when cooking under pressure, Thanks for your research.
