Debbie Meyer Suggestion
It would be nice to have spice containers with a little clear spot to label things, and a container for a first aid kit and a make-up box. Does she already offer those?
I love them. They really work for me. Rubbermaid makes some with air vents that makes it evaporate the condensation more but I still prefer Debbie Meyers. I gave some for gifts. I use the large bread box for romaine lettuce, salad, cauliflower and broccoli, and carrots. The smaller ones for mushrooms, tomatoes, etc..
Now that I’ve had them a few weeks, I don’t really care for them. The cheese gets moldy quickly and if you don’t keep drying the boxes out, the food goes bad. The only exception, strangely, is the one time I washed and dried the lettuce as much as possible instead of putting it in the container dry without washing, the lettuce lasted about ten days or so… So I can’t figure them out.
The lids are very hard to pop off and they hurt your fingers…. And I find it rather annoying that if I store most of the food in them, they take up the whole refrigerator. I really think they need a design change to keep the moisture out, because if you have to keep drying the insides, it renders any convenience or ‘saving the food’ idea useless.
@lovelion …. Cherie bought a few sets a while back and they did NOT work as advertised. I ended up using them as CRAFT boxes.
@tamrick …after the container fiasco, I didn’t want to try any other products of hers but Thanks for the tip on the sponges.
@aggy788 … My bread didn’t get moldy but the whole loaf never fit and it would dry out …YUCK!
@velveteenrabbit7 …. Thanks for the recommendation on the bags, I’ll try them out.
I have never seen them but I have them from Tupperware. After purchasing 2 large sets of Debbie Meyer this Summer I wish I never did. I followed her instructions & my food & breads got moldy. My Tupperware worked better. I was so disappointed. I love her sponges, they work just as she says & I stock up on them. I thought I would save money as she said on produce, we had a very humid Summer where I live & I had such hope in these containers. I even used paper towels to wipe out any condensation. Maybe I got a bad set?
I have never had any luck with containers (any brand) but her bags work really well for me on fruit and other things that don’t need refrigeration. Putting bananas in the bags keeps them for a really long time.
Hi tamarick I had the same problems with the containers. My bananas got black and mushy in about 4 days, my tomatoes went bad also. I wiped out the moisture twice a day. I have used her bags and they worked fine the cantainers did not work for me as they were advertised. I am going back to the bags. Take care AGGY788
