Cold Weather Comfort Food Dinner
What is your favorite Cold weather comfort food dinner?
Tonight I made some venison stew with bisquits. I also made some bread today too.
The left over stew will be a pot pie on Tuesday if there is any left that is!
Those are just 2 of some of my favorites. What are yours?
-
Stew, thick soup, nice and steamy, – yes, that’s my favorite!
-
Oh, well… yum yum! Chicken & Dumplings… Beef Stroganoff… Fasolia (Beef & Greenbean casserole)… Shepherd’s Pie… anything with mashed potatoes! *lol* Chicken Noodle soup… Clam Chowder… Vichyssoise. So many things.
-
Cioppino (spicy shellfish stew) with fresh baked sourdough bread, thick homemade soups like 15 bean with sausage and split pea with tons of ham.
-
Stew…big chunks of meat, carrots, potatoes…… in a broth that is like a gravy. Making some tomorrow. It’s frigid cold here. And a loaf of homemade bread.
Now, where is my breadmaker?

Comfort food? Anything that I don’t have to cook. It has to be delicious, greasy, high in sodium, not especially nutritional and doesn’t take much time to pick up. So that’s probably anything drive through, pizza, Chinese food. Soup..canned. That’s easy.

Mine is always a nice pot of homemade Italian sauce with meatballs, pork and meat simmering on the stove the whole afternoon…served with thin spaghetti…nice crusty italian bread, of course… slathered with butter!
That is the dinner my parents always made, and that I have continued to cook…and brings back so many wonderful, warm, loving memories. I always loved sitting down to dinner with them on Sundays with this dinner!!

Pinto beans with Hatch green chiles and cornbread or Caldillo with flour tortillas.

Well shoot.. its actually been quite mild this winter where I live! East coast gets cold west coast stays kind of warm. If East Coast gets hot, we tend to get cold. Anyway, when we DID have cold weather (last time it snowed here was when I was heading across the mountain pass in 4 inches of slush trying to make it to the airport because my flight out of my town was canceled) … but.. cold weather, I like lentil soup, lentil casserols, vegetarian lasanga, tuna noodle cassserole. You all are making me hungry! Haven’t had cornbread for a long time!! I notice I tend to eat fewer salads when its really cold,,, who wants a cold salad when you are trying to stay warm! So, I tend to juice green veggies and drink that.
