Canning with my Wolfgang Puck 7qt Pressure Cooker
For the first time in years I have a beautiful lush backyard garden. I have been told I can use my pressure cooker to help with canning. I would like some instructions on how.
Back in the day when I was canning I used an 8qt that has plenty of room for several jars. I too have an electric pressure cooker that I purchased here at HSN. I have the Todd English one. I have never tried to can using that one. I think I can get a few half pints in it. Not sure as I have never tried.
The one I have is one that you put on the stove and to be honest here for canning that is what I would only use.
These electric ones are fine for pressure cooking foods in twenty mins or less but nothing like a good old fashion pressure cooker for canning low acid veggies and meats etc.
I also have a water bath canning pan for using when I am using acid base foods like pickles and tomatoes.
Your HSN friend,
some pressure cookers cannot be used as canners. they do not have enough head room. which hsn number do you have?
