True, snowcollector, we can’t dress entirely for ourselves. But we can’t dress entirely for men either. If we did, we’d all be wearing negligees and garter belts. Ha! Ha! I have a career wherein I need to dress somewhat conservatively; however, the dress codes of most offices these days have become pretty relaxed and casual. In all honesty, I like wearing dressy clothes.
CC, You are right! Women should dress for themselves when they can. It’s just an observation when I said most men like it when women wear bright colors. Black is still my color of choice with an occasional pop of color or black & white.
As you know, many women can’t dress for themselves entirely as they are employed in careers with certain dress codes that require more conservative attire. I am fortunate to have a career that allows me quite a bit of latitude in choosing what I wear as long as it’s basically professional. Having said that I like to wear clothes that allow me to express myself with my accessories and I’ve said many times that on Sunday I pick out what jewelry I’m going to wear for the week taking my schedule into account and then I select the clothing.
Our personal style tends to evolve over time as our lives change to accommodate school, careers, marriage, motherhood, retirement, etc. That’s another reason I love HSN! HSN has wardrobe choices for most phases of our lives. Thank goodness we have so many choices!
snowcollector, it’s nice if men notice, but we gals need to wear clothes and colors that give US confidence. :smileywink:
Tempo- thanks for replying. I understand now where you are coming from. Like colors that stand out like vibrant blues or maybe silver would look nice for the holidays, I don’t know how that would show up on camera- my opinion only. What do you think? I love vibrant colors & leopard prints but I do mix black in with my outfits like today I had on black velvet moto jacket w/black velvet cap, VS Boyfriend pants w/leopard print down the leg, black longsleeve tee and small leopard bag to match the VS pants. I like to mix it up. I appreciate you taking the time to get back with me on this. Have a great weekend 🙂
You make some good points. Also, have noticed through the yearr that most men like it when women wear bright colors and are not especially enamored with women who wear black exclusively.
I don’t mind the color black, just not every single day. The hosts need to mix it up somewhat. It’s depressing to look at the color black all the time. The hosts are on T.V. everyday; it would be nice to see them wear different colors, and to see the way different pieces of jewelry look against different colors of clothing. Black is too much of a background color, and sometimes the hosts look like floating heads because their black wrapped bodies blend into the backdrop. And you can’t see the details or the beauty of the garment. I know females get caught up in that black trap. They’re always trying to look skinny or sexy. It’s kind of tragic because they’re limiting themselves. The color black is also a way of trying to disappear, especially for those females who don’t like their bodies.
