Wow Heidi Daus Jewelery $$$$$
Wow I ordered a few items from this lady Heidi… me thinks it’s kinda over priced, some of her jewelery- and no real gems? wow!!! Btw I Love Art Deco ….SMH selleres shouldn’t take advantage of customers..
Is this considered a great value?
I am a huge Heidi fan and I have come to learn that prices have more to do with the designer name and uniqueness of a piece than it does with materials used. I think this holds true in clothing, china, jewely, handbags, even food. Also taken into consideration are things like the number of pieces that will be made ( the edition ), where it is made ( overseas versus US )…so many factors we can’t necessarily see. Brand, though, definitely has something to do with it, in my opinion. For example, take a look at the popular "Brighton" line – no fine metals are used, no real stones -yet the prices are pretty significant. (By the way, I love Brighton and own several pieces. 🙂 )
Having said that, many of Heidi’s pieces are multi cast, so in order to get those beautiful 3 dimensional looks, several casts are needed to create one piece, many with hinge mechanisms for movement. I also believe all of those crystals are hand set and, although they are "just crystals’, they are from Sworovski. Heidi also mentions that Sworovski creates special cuts and colors for her line, so all of this must be built into the cost.
Now, if you look at the last TS, a substantial necklace, earrings and bracelet were sold for $124. You know both HSN and Heidi had to profit by that so manufacturing those items must have been pretty inexpensive. But, then again, as beautiful as these pieces were, they were not as elaborate as some as her other pieces.
I, personally, am fine paying higher prices for stunning, unique, elaborate, well made pieces – especially when you figure in the cost of the company to provide a lifetime warrantee. What bothers me, are the prices on pieces that are glass filled stones which are technically real, composite turquoise – all technically real stuff – but quite honestly quite sub par, being sold as wonderful products on air.
True, Heidi Daus’ pieces are expensive, even on sale, but so worth every penny to me. No where can I find items that even come close to matching her quality and design.
I have no fear about wearing Heidi’s works of art anywhere or anytime. This fabulous designer backs each and every work of art she sells with a limited lifetime warranty. The closure of one of my favorite pins from Heidi broke. I sent it to Montclair, NJ for repair. It could not be repaired, due to construction design. Without hesitation, I received a full refund, and the pin was over a year old. HD, Ltd originally planned to send me a new replacement. Unfortunately, this pin was sold out. Suzie (Heidi’s wonderful assistant) promised to be on the look out for one and notify me if one became available. Suzie took the time to call me personally, twice, about this matter.
My Heidi treasures are kept in the little blue boxes they arrived in or in Colleen’s Prestige Jewelry boxes. This provides easy access to my "little lovelies". Thus I wear the jewelry more. Most any day I will be wearing at least one piece of my Hedi jewelry, usually multilpe pieces.
I have hundred’s of thousands of dollars (not bragging, just saying) of "real jewelry". If I lose a stone or need a repair, it is up to me to fund the entire matter. I have to buy the replacement stone and pay for the repair. Needless to say, I don’t keep the real stuff laying about in jewelry boxes. This stuff is kept in a safe where it is very cumbersome to get to. Many times I just don’t want to go through the trouble to retrieve it.
Heidi’s offerings are just as beautiful as any piece of real jewelry that I own. I wear her jewelry with peace of minds because of the warranty. Although I don’t seek out compliments, I never fail to receive complements on her jewelry.
Even though Heidi’s jewelry is not inexpensive, it is well worth it. You can buy less expensive jewelry, but I doubt that it will be as durable or as beautifully crafted. It probably will not be backed by a limited lifetime warranty either. As for me, I am a happy customer.
Good morning ladies, hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday:smileyhappy: I say if you like something buy it. It’s your money. Heidi has beautiful pieces. In fact I think I made a statement before that they should be framed and on display:smileyhappy: Her pieces are unique. Enjoy what you purchase. HSN has the best clearance prices I have seen. I know that Heidi’s pieces go on clearance like everyone elses. I did say that her last TSV was a very good price for anyone who collects her pieces. Happy Saturday:smileyhappy:
Everyone is entitled to their opinion…..but for me, Heidi Daus is worth every penny….her designs..color combinations….and her imagination is something else….she strikes me as genuine….I am crazy for her brooches/pins….most are pretty good size and lets not forget the sparkle..I wear them on a hat band, coat collars and bulky sweaters….HD customer service is the best….she stands behind her products…..myself, can’t find anything wrong…whenever I wear one of her brooches…8 out 10 times i’m asked where I got it….i’ll continue to buy…also, I think there are more flex pays on her higher priced items lately, which does help…just my opinion
On a whim, I searched for Heidi items on ebay. What do you know -some bad word is selling last TS for $250, in all colors. I mean, I understand supply and demand and all that but this type of profiteering is distasteful in my book.
My collection of Heidi Daus starting one year ago this month. Have almot purchased a dozen pieces by now….some for me and some for gifts.
Her costume jewelry is very well made…..her designs are untouchable!! Would love to have her mind of creativity.
I look forward to her joy and enthusiasm every time she is on air.
Her name is Heidi Daus. I am not rich by no means and I own around 300
pieces of her art work. She is one of a kind.
I have been collecting her pieces for over 10 years. I love each and every
piece. This is how I treat myself.
I do own the real things as well but not as many pieces as my Heidi Daus.
Ribbon Candy by Heidi Daus I could print pages of what I have but you have to try Heidi Daus
for yourself. Good luck!
Heidi Daus jewelry is beautiful, well made, and unique. I do not consider myself "taken advantage of "
Goodness, no one is FORCED to buy or FORCED to tune in .
In all fairness, the question is an interesting one. On one hand, as my suggested little experiment with ebay shows, the market is willing to pay these prices. So they are justified by the market. Can you buy better stuff cheaper? I doubt it. You CAN buy cheaper crystal decorated jewelry but I do not think it is as well made and it does not last. Heidi items, mostly, last. Metal does not turn and does not change colors. Workmanship is very decent.
They do break way more than I think they should (for that price, I think they should not at all) but Heidi has an excellent service and a lifetime warranty. Anything breaks – you ship to her shop in Montclair, NJ and they fix it. Sometimes they even adjust items – make them shorter, longer, whatever.
In terms of comparing these to "real" jewelry: for sure, if this was made out of precious metals and with precious stones, it would be mad thousands of $$$. Stili, hundreds of dollars for costume? I don’t know. I am used to the idea and I am paying. Relatedly, I am also used to the constant stream of compliments from strangers and acquaintances alike.
sorry if I got your name wrong 2nd time posting here..
me too…. just wondring what the justification for such an expense with no gems stones on pieces?
Here is a good gauge to see if something is overpriced: go to ebay and check prices on these items there. If you see them selling much cheaper, you know they are overpriced. Go ahead, check out for yourself. I challenge you to find any Heidi item selling for less than it was on HSN originally, and older pieces sell for way more.
Her pieces are expensive but her pieces are big. I did notice that she had some good deals today. Hope you enjoy your pieces:smileyhappy:
