Why Did I Keep It?
Do any of you ever go through your jewelry boxes and wonder why in the world you kept a particular piece? I know I do. Then I think maybe I can gift it. I’ve worn it maybe once or twice and it is like brand new, so why not? Then again sometimes I don’t want to give it as a gift because it cost more than I want to gift. If I don’t wear it, what difference does it make? I’ve learned, stick with Heidi or Joan. Anybody else and I’m usually disappointed. Can any of you relate?
I did bring a box of jewelry with me when a group of my friends went out one night. They had a great time going through it and picking what they wanted. Every time they wore a piece, they called it to my attention. I was glad I could make them so happy. @fairemaiden, I gave myself and Angelique the set you gave your sister. It was one of my first purchases in that color.
Pamlou, I did that about 10 years ago and about 6 years ago I got rid of the things I never wore or had never been worn. Much of it was precious gemstones that were, as Faire said, just too demure for me. I gave some away and sold the rest. I am so much happier having lots of jewelry that I love and actually wear.
Oh @pamlou you are playing and singing my song!! My husband just built me a closet to die for. Going through SO much stuff, I found it was EASY to give clothe, even shoes, and purses away to friends, family and TRICK-OR-TREATERS. OH, IT IS SO MUCH FUN to Give those kids things they can use or re-gift to someone else!!! The JEWELRY….. Not so Fast. In fact NOT at ALL, NOT One Piece and I tried! So I squirreled it all away and I figured I’m not yet even 40 so I still have time.
@fairemaiden, I would LOVE to Ebay… But Hubby is not sold on PAYP….. or relying on other peoples description ( like your angel, you liked the picture but in Your hand, not so much ) on items shown and he is a SORE LOOSER. So like I posted in Sheba’s place I’ll just keep SHOPPING!!
Not very often, Pammy… but, on occasion I do. I gift them to my sisters, or my niece. But only those things I ‘know’ they will love. The rest goes on Ebay.
Examples: I got this Bella Luce Angel Necklace and it was just too ‘small’ in size for me, so I gave it to my niece as she’s young and likes demure things. She thanked me profusely saying, ‘It’s so me, auntie!’
I gave these to my sister as she was going to a huge formal wedding back East for her husband’s side of the family. She wanted to ‘wow’ them and bought a lovely full-length, Wine-coloured gown, but really didn’t have any jewelry to speak of. When she got these pieces, she called me screaming with glee and ended-up crying, ‘OMG! These are gorgeous! Everything goes so perfectly! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love you, mommie!’ (She always calls me ‘mommie’, *lol*)
