What is your favorite Jay King story or memory?
I know a great many people enjoy watching and learning from Jay King as much as we adore his jewelry. His exuberant personality and genuine care and concern for his customers, and his desire to bring us the finest most unusual gems he can track down, has endeared him to me, and I am sure, to many of you.
Because of these qualities, and his sincere excitement in educating us about his unique pieces, his wonderful stories often come out jumbled up, out of order, take off in one direction, then veer off in another–his pauses and "Ummm’s" and the way he interacts with the hosts make his appearances a "must see" for me.
Sometimes, when introducing a new gem for the first time, he gets so excited to tell us about it…well, I know everyone reading this knows how hilarious his presentations are—talking too fast, long pauses often puntuated with his incredible giggle…
…yet he always manages to get all his (often complicated and scientific) information across with such joy and gusto, you cannot help but be pulled into his world.
I have a story/memory to tell later, but it’s late and I wanted to post this to invite others to talk about their favorite Jay King moment—or moments, for us all to share and enjoy and to celebrate his anniversary.
one time jay king shared film footage of he and his daughter walking through lots of uncultivated country complete with machetes in hand. totally ab fab!! i also love it when jay shares new technology/gizmos with us. i remember seeing film of him driving a dune buggy and doing "donuts" in the desert . he said that this vehicle belonged to a mine and cost around $1million dollars. unbelievable!! love you and your frontier ways, jay!! stay awesome and alive, my friend. take good care. xoxo
