Hi jay king ,I ordered 50 items of your line, and one necklace (NO351469)is turquoise.I found one green bead outside is a bit broken, and inside is chalky white which should not be,can you tell me is this real turquoise?because my friend told me it is fake one.yu can send me personal email too.
take a picture of the stone & necklace & post it to your question. That way people who don’t understand can see what your talking about.
I went back & watched the 5:23 minute video. At roughly 0:33 Lynn Murphy says that before they sell out, the viewers will be told about EACH & EVERY ONE of all the different types of turquoise in the necklace. Then Jay takes over at roughly 0:42 stating that he loves to give us all the "inside skinny on this stuff" and proceeds to start talking about his jeep.At roughly 1:42 Jay lets the viewers know he is surprised at how cheaply HSN is selling the necklace. At roughly 2:03 Jay says what he loves is this necklace came from 7 different mines. & he loves all the different colors. At roughly 2:22 Lynn Murphy talks about putting little passports on the turquoise to show how many places from all around the world the turquoise came from.Roughly at 3:09 Jay takes over again & starts telling the viewers that the turquoise is all hand cut from all the rough (at 3:16). At 3:21 he says "they take the rough and they cut the rough " blah blah blah ~ at (3:41) "this is all cut from the rough ".At roughly 4:39 Jay says "how these get made is where I have buckets of rough from different ar- – from the different mining areas in the same region". He then goes on to say that once its done I cant ……..most of the rough that’s in this particular necklace I guarantee you that um, the only material that’s out there right now is what we have in our warehouse" (roughly). And then there is the standard "this will never be repeated at this price again" ~that is his catch phrase. And it sells out.Unless you have magic powers, you still don’t know and never were told where the turquoise came from, as promised. You were also not told that it is compressed turquoise & coral. You were not told that it is color enhanced turquoise & coral. All you know is the rough was sitting in Jay’s warehouse.I think this should be disclosed on air. Clearly & no games or semantics. It should also be part of the information on the top left of the TV screen, so you can see it right away & not have to strain your ears listening for the words compressed, color enhanced or dyed.Like I said before…. if the vendors are proud of using compressed & color enhanced turquoise(and other stones) then disclose it ON AIR.I don’t want to hear they didn’t have time, when they are babbling about their jeep or the wife’s car for 3 minutes. Make the time.Don’t try to dazzle me with babble, give me the straight facts & let me decide if this is a true mine find. What does the word "rough" mean to you when talking about turquoise and turquoise mines ?To me it means (in simple terms) the rock from the ground/mountain/mine. It’s called the rough…nothing has been done to it.Now I understand that turquoise is stabilized…that’s pretty standard in the industry. So logically, you would expect that the rough turquoise in his warehouse waiting to be cut has been stabilized. I think that could still be called " rough". So, I think throwing the word "rough" around is sadly misleading. The necklace in question contained:Stabilized Multicolor Anhui TurquoiseStabilized Compressed Blue/Green TurquoiseStabilized Compressed Color-Enhanced Purple TurquoiseStabilized Compressed Color-Enhanced Green TurquoiseCompressed Color-Enhanced Red Coral
Linden2, Jay King does have a blog in Community. You can always go there and ask any question. He will answer you, though it may be awhile because he may be out of the country on one of his mine finds. Another suggestion is to go into the customer service area on hsn.com. If you venture in you can use the search engine for either Jay King or Mine Finds and it will tell you how to return a purchase to him. The one thing I can truly state is that he stands behind each and every product. I have returned some of my favorites to him for repair and it is lovenly taken care of. His staff is wonderful to work with.
desertrosedirect is his site. click on contact us at the bottom and go from there.
1). Compressed turquoise is turquoise dust mixed with resin and dye. Is it real? MMm well you decide. I wouldn’t say quite "fake" but … surely, a half-way between pure plastic and a turquoise stone, no?
2). You figure it probably should not be white inside but perhaps they dye the outside instead of throughout?
3) He is not going to write to you, Linden2.
Both these cases sound interesting to me…I have had some turq crack and break, I have never had them be white inside. I would like to know about this too. I know that several designers dye stones…could this be what is going on here?
Hi Linden2, while I do not have an answer to your question, I am wondering the answer. I bought a Lapis Bead bracelet at a store in AZ. It cracked and was also white, to this day, I don’t know if it was real.
