I am not surprised to hear a story about the poor quality of technibond. I purchased a very expensive charm bracelet and since it was over 30 days, and it broke after wearing it 2 times I was devastated. It was so beautiful with coin charms. No jeweler will fix it because its technibond and using real gold is not realistic because maybe other links will come apart. Its something I never will purchase. I also purchased a piece of stately steel and the so called indestructible chain broke.
Technibond clearly used to be better, and was one of HSN’s top jewelry lines. But the quality markedly decreased and they discontinued the warranty. Now the jewelry is expensive, and is no better than costume jewelry, which is throw-away jewelry. This is reflected in the number of shows they have too. Technibond used to be aired very frequently. Now it can be months before they have any Technibond shows. I assume that is due to the poor sales, high return rates, and overall poor quality. It is too bad, as I have hundreds of old pieces that are beautiful and have held up very well. I won’t buy it anymore, as the finish just wears off so quickly. That seems to be the case with most of their costume line! Very disappointing.
I bought a technibond 18 in chain to put a pendent I had. I wore it non stop for two weeks and saw the gold had wore off and the chain links were bonding together like it was rusting solid. I seem to rust watches and mystery metal, maybe the salt in my skin. But I paid around $29 for that chain
I have some older pieces of techno bond which wear very well but I have not bought anythinthin from the line in many many years. They used to have stunning created gems in the line. Now it is most metal and boring designs to boot.
Have purchased several Technibond pieces, and have come to the conclusion that it is overpriced junk, esp the ‘status’ pieces. quality is poor and ‘gold’ plating is almost non-existant and will wear off within a few months. you are much better off purchasing better quality items for much less at TJMaxx. Unfortunately, 30 day policy is much too short to evaluate things like jewelry, so HSN needs to change its return policy if it wants to remain a player with Technibond. I’ve learned my lesson and will not buy again, regardless of how great an item looks on TV!
Totally agree. The newer color also is more brassy and not as believable. My older pieces are still awesome. In fact what drew me to HSN was technibond but lately have been sending back more than I’m keeping.
I did enjoy a concave ring purchased over 2 yrs ago. I can say it is still nice without scratches YET it has the weight of a feather…..Some might love the airy feel but i still love my Technibond that had weight.
The quality of Technibond has gone down. I don’t know what they are doing different but it’s not as good as it used to be. I have stopped buying it and I hate that because I love my older Technibond and wear it all the time. :smileyfrustrated:
