Ottoman Silver Jewelry
I am interested in the Ottoman Silver Jewelry Collection Cultured Freshwater Pearl Filigree “Blossom” Ring 533-796. I wonder if this ring can be sized down? Size 9 is the smallest offered and I would need an 8. Does this jewelry need a lot of care?
I posted to another thread that the ring did come out in my size so I got it! I hope it is as pretty as in the video. I also got the matching bracelet.
Oh darn, after I purchased it size 8 was put on the wait list.
Thanks everybody. I will pass on the ring unless it comes out in my size. I don’t think I would like it on another finger.
Pammy, sizing a ring with a large pearl is very difficult to do. I would pass on the ring, if you managed to find a jeweler that would do it I would be very concerned about the integrity of the pearl setting.
Pearls are very sensitive stones to heat and chemicals. The pearl would have to be removed before sizing. This can be done, but is more costly to the fee. The filligree work is also delicate. Personally, I would wear it on another finger or purchase a ring sizer to put in the ring to take up the size.
For the most part, sterling silver jewelry does need alot of care. However, if you ever purchased anything from Jay King, his jewelry comes with a small polishing cloth that really makes your sterling look good, especially where it tarnishes. For the most part, I have found that the sterling silver that is made in Italy really lasts a long time (years and years) without tarnishing. .
To size up or down in silver, you will need a jeweler who knows what he/she is doing. Someone who is an expert in the field. Not all jewelers can do this.
I happen to have quite a few pieces of India silver. It does tarnish, but the cloths really work and does bring it back to the original look.
