Latest Rarities Letdown
Hello fellow jewelry lovers…just wanted to vent a little over my most recent CB Rarities disappointment. Received item 395-195 today – in pieces. Resin was shattered at both the hinge end and the open end, and the jagged shards had scratched the hooey out of what was left of the bracelet. Yet another $400 Rarities mistake. I know I’ve said it before and fallen off the wagon, but I honestly think this is my last straw with this line. The quality has crashed as the prices have soared and I’m simply over it.
Wake up HSN!!!! LOOK at items before you send them out – where is your quality control???
Ohhhh, that’s too bad. I looked this bracelet up, and yes it’s pricey, but lovely! It doesn’tt have any reviews. With all of the shipping and handling fee’s; can’t they even look in the box? I would like to know if this continues to be an issue as some have had similar issues. Those sapphire lip earmings are a calling me…
It looks like something from Claire’s or, Stella and Dot. I completely understand what your saying. I’ve had so many dissapointments from Rarities, that I don’t buy from Rarities any longer. All She does is brag about her past. She should instead, pay some attention to the design and quality!
I’ve had enough of her design of the moment pieces and poor quality. When she first started, the designs and quality were amazing. Sadly…no more.
This is not Carol. think, Carol designs the jewely and buys the gems and what ever ,.Carol then arranges with a jewel maker to make her designs. from her drawings. So like someone else has said(.Quality control)when it leaves the p lace were it was made it should be check and again when it arrives at H.S.N NETTEA 8:25M 2/23/2015
I know the Rarities prizes are crazy but I’m addicted. Have been since the beginning and this past weekend was no exception. Can’t wait to receive the latest buys!
Have two of Carol’s enamel bracelets, the white snake and the black snake, and I adore them. Luckily they arrived in great shape and I wear them frequently. I did wait for them to go on sale and they were still expensive but I don’t regret it for a second…
Sean, your bracelet had quite a bit of diamond weight and it is a lovely bracelet. I’m sorry it was damaged.
Sorry this happened to you! PLEASE tell me you returned it "as damaged" to HSN?!
Rarities is over price. I would never pay was she asking for vermeil. I have a John Hardy ring I paid $575.00@ (value@ $1,295.00)TJMAXX it’s solid with a under gallery18k with sterling silver.I purchase at Macy’s "last chance" a Effy diamond and 18k and sterling silver the ring was value at over a thousand dollars with the sale I paid under $400.00. For the record I love the white metals and two-tone jewelry. Stop settleing for over price jewelry with no quality. The above items I purchase because they were a bargin. If you perfer whismical jewelry Barry Cord and Barbara Bixby are my favorite designers of whismical jewelry and little expensive, but well worth the money. I have bought and received 2 Rarities and returned both pieces due the poor quality.
I’m sorry. Burn me if you don’t like this, but with price of gold and silver dropping you are all paying way to much for the look and the name. Why Anthony Gold at 10k is a better deal. What happens if the resin cracks with time. Tell please that you have a life ttime warrenty. Concerned….Ronnie
Thanks for the input and commiseration, everyone! To be fair, I do not think that HSN’s shipping practices had anything to do with the damage to the bracelet. It was well packaged in a velvety bag, inside a foam-padded box, inside a bubble mailer. None of which were at all squished or crushed looking. I honestly believe that the bracelet was damaged before it was ever shipped out – which is what makes it so frustrating. I think that the HSN in-house quality control is the real issue. (As has been the case with other damaged or sub-par items I’ve received lately.) I do wonder if HSN does any inspections *at all* on the items they sell. I have a suspicion that they leave it all up to the individual vendors instead and just ship out whatever gets shipped in without ever looking the pieces over themselves. :womanfrustrated:
As far as the outrageous price for resin – I agree. It’s nuts. This was actually to have been my very first resin purchase, and will for certain be my last! I normally never would have even thought about buying it, but I love and collect anything with moons and stars, Carol is *supposedly* well-known for her quality cuffs, and the bracelet did have over a carat of diamonds. :womanwink: But, I’ve learned my lesson! Back to my "nothing but pure noble metals and genuine gemstones" shopping mentality! Shame on me for attempting to branch out! LOL.
Depending on the brand resin and other forms of plastic bangles aren’t cheap. Rarities is not a cheap brand. This is the case when you pay because you like the look, not because you want to make an investment into future generations. Not too long ago I bought an Alexis Bittar bangle for $500+ and it did not have any natural precious stones or metals. Purely man-made. Very expensive. Stunning.
I am yet to find a cheap plastic bangle that I like. J. Peterman had "Sakura" slip -on bangle (no hinges) I bought many years ago. It was $275+tax (at the time it was unheard-of price!), nad no stones or crystals and was resin. I have Kenneth Jay Lane Peacock (resin and crystals) bracelet I paid pretty penny for too.
Here and there I see reasonably priced plastic jewelry, but if it doesnt speak to me, I save my $$$ :smileywink: You buy what makes you happy.
$400 for resin bracelet that is damaged…way too much. What a disappointment.
What a let down for you!
I haven’t had any problem with my Rarities pieces, but I haven’t been buying anything new lately.
Her prices are way too high now for what you are getting, $400 for a resin braclet is why over the top.
I am so sorry this happened to you Seanchai, but so far, great majority of shipments I had from hsn were good and they are fantastic about return of damaged items. Just give CS a call or web chat and they will wave return label fee for dameged item. Recently I had a HUGE mishap with UPS. My guess is original HSN package "It’s Here! It’s Here!" was damaged and UPS repackaged it. Just not all of it. Two rings were missing and the rest of boxes were SOAKED and smashed (like someone sat on them). Outer box was dry, though. But it wasn’t HSN box and even original invoice was wet inside- hsn had to email me a new return label since the one in the box was so wet it could not be used. HSN investigated it and refunded me for missing items, I returned damaged necklace (it was ruined) free of charge. Unfortunately, it was a clearance order so I couldn’t re-order, it was sold out.
From my personal experience Rarities is a good brand. However, I must admit my rotation of things does not give me an accurate prospective of quality. I have never worn the same thing more than twice. Ever…
I bought the skull necklace with red diamonds, wore it for two days and took it off to clean the diamonds and saw one had fell out plus the dark rhodium on the skull had wore off and it was a light silver color and couldnt see the red diamonds as good. I had ordered another to give as a gift but didnt want it falling apart aftr two days either, sent them both back. She has no warrenty on her stuff either, you have to buy the insurance. I wont buy anymore jewelry from her or Adreinne either. A ring from Real collectables lost two CZ’s after 3 wearing, she doesnt have a warrenty either and was past 30 days, $60 for 3 wearings
Why are products being damaged during the shipping process? Shipping and handling fees are ridiculously high. One would think the extra cost pays for better quality products in which to ship the items so they don’t get damaged.
I received a Rarities sapphire tennis bracelet as a gift for Christmas. I wore it for two hours Christmas Day before it broke in half and fell on the floor. I returned it without wanting a replacement. I was so disappointed as it was my main gift and I love Rarities.
