Joy Mangano’s 2 jewelry cases
Ms. Mangano has invented many great products, some of which have gone down in quality, as has been discussed here and in reviews for years. But when she picked up giant pins, cuffs and other pieces off that table,, and expects us to believe all the pieces, large and small, will fit into two small cases with total organization, I really had to write in.
She opened a case up and said, "I must have like a hundred watches in there…" Five of them were nicely spread out in the top envelope-like compartment, but the other 95 watches were jumbled into 4 tiny and 5 more elongated sections.
Nine sections that each had to hold 10 watches, which were all piled on top of one another. You would have to move nine watches around to find the bottom one in each compartment. This is organization?
And, how many of us want to place our jewelry into cases that are not anti-tarnish? Not me.
She has invented many brilliant innovative products; this is not one of them. I can see these cases holding/organizing many other items, but entrusting my expensive jewelry to them? No way.
I underestand many customers get upset when certain vendors are citicized, but I feel that 2 NON anti-tarnish jewelry cases (each one 13" x 11" x 4.5") that are supposed to organize over 1,000 pieces of jewelry deserves some questions from HSN customers.
I really like mine. I have one tray only on the top of a jewelry box on my dresser. It used to take me forever opening the drawers and compartments in the jewelry box, now I can see all of my most used jewelry at a glance in one tray.
I bought the two JM jewelry boxes, they really don’t hold much unless you put multiple pieces into each slot, which they say not to do to avoid scratching, so I have each item in a bag so they don’t scratch each other.
She said they were great for travel, no, they are not. The first time one of the boxes was tilted sideways all of the rings fell out of that single cheap thin strip of folded sponge she claims is the "ring holder", all of my jewely ended up in a big lump on one side of the case, thankfully the case was zipped closed so nothing was lost. The little snaps for the neclaces, each will hold a few LITTLE chains. Most of my necklaces are still hanging in my little wooden "armoire".
I have filled her boxes with those "anti-tarnish strips", waiting to see how that works. Other than that, they seem to be well made, can’t find seams coming apart, but they are not what she claims.
I was skeptical about the cases holding all that jewelry, but since I had a VERY large collection I thought I’d give it a try myself with the two beauty cases. My jewelry was in one of the large mirrored jewelry safekeepers by Lori Greiner and filled to capacity. I was able to fit maybe 1/2 of the jewelry into the cases to where they were actually organized and not thrown together. I gave away over 100 pr. of earrings to Goodwill, and put my fine jewelry in another smaller jewelry box, and my most frequently used costume jewelry I keep in two inexpensive hangers from Ebay that have about 70 plastic pockets.
So, I can honestly say that JM may have exaggerated a bit when hawking her jewelry cases. I still like the cases because they are so easily transportable and take up much less space than my mirrored jewelry safekeeper. If I could change anything about them, it would be to put handles on two opposite sides for easy lifting of the top section.
Against my better judgement, I bought her beach/lunch bag. It is falling apart. :womanmad:
JM products are cheap and worthless in quality. Walmart does not have good quality. I can easily find my way to Walmart, if I want no quality. I will never again buy a JM product. :womanmad:
