I just don’t get it
I for one would not pay over a thousand dollars for jewelry done in vermeil, with a diamond you will need a magnifier to see. Vermeil does not last forever.Since I am not a big fan of yellow gold, I don’t get it. I love the white metals, especially silver, and not that shinny silver. I like white metals with a hint of yellow gold like, John Hardy, and Barbara Bixby. I also like King Baby, Barry Cord, James Avery, etc. They all do yellow gold jewelry, but their gold jewelry is not flimsy. I wear jewelry for the artistry and jewelry that hold a special meaning not just the metal. At the same time, I want quality. Not some flimsy piece of jewelry no matter it’s gold or silver. But that’s me and I just don’t get it.
? U sound like u know ur stuff! I know jack squat about jewelry and would need someone like u to help me if I went shopping. I do think fake stuff can look tacky, but sometimes I see fashion jewelry that is cool. What jewelry brands do u like on HSN? And whose vermeil is over a thousand dollars?
Vermeil is pretty safe in brooches/pins since it does not touch skin and get rubbed but yes, you are right.
I’ve seen King Baby on air several times and was really impressed. I like his roses. I know my ring finger is a 3.5, bc the few rings I own had to be done at the jeweler…
Vermeil has come a long way over the last few decades. I have a Victoria Wieck ring that I wear A LOT that is vermeil and have had for almost 20 years. The gold is just starting to wear on the underside of the band but isn’t noticeable from the top. The other benefit to some vermeil over sterling is hardness. I am very hard on rings and have many 14K and 18K rings that I have somehow managed to bend and I don’t do wimpy jewelry. Do I prefer platinum and 18K gold? Of course!
Can I assume you’re no Heidi Daus fan? Just wondering. I don’t own any, but I do own some vermeil (from back in the day). It’s precious metal and the process by which is done now (true vermeil) not GOLD OVER SILVER is considered fine jewelry. :womanvery-happy:
It looks to me that this made-for-HSN line is priced as it is because of the designer’s name. I never heard of her until clicking on the link in ? earlier post, and did a search to find out about her.
I tend to agree with you mostly..In recent years it has improved in some instances..It is hard for me to get the old vermeil out of my mind I suppose..In the past you could wear it a few times and it looked terrible..But like you if I am going to spend a grand on a piece of jewerly it would not be vermeil.I still won’t buy a ring made with vermeil unless its reduced so much I couldn’t pass it up.Its likely being offered more since precious metals are so expensive that it puts a lot of items out of the customers reach.
Apparently silver jewerly has improved also judging by reviews and prices.I never bought much silver because it always tarnished and I didn’t like having to buff and polish.
I could not agree with you more. White and clear diamonds are not scarce. Possibly the ones mined in Canada are. This lady keeps talking about empowering women. That is an ancient topic in America. Women have been successful for years. She should state which charities are being supported and in which countries.
I would go to a local jewelry store for that amount of money. I want to research, touch, ask questions. Come back, then buy.
A diamond is not a TV purchase for me nor do I like anything that is not 14k or higher. Skin reactions is bad. :catsurprised:
