HELP! Jewelry mavens, I need your expert advice.
Hi Everybody! I know all of my old community friends and some new ones will be able to advise me on the Times Square ring(s) I purchased from Rarities 3 months ago. I originally got 4 but returned 2 because they lost their sparkle. They are rhodium plated and the 2 I have are now as dull as a long winter. The plating is gone and I recall there may have been a coating to enhance the shine. Yes the stones are chips so without whatever made them sparkle and hold their color, well they sure don’t look like they did. They are now on the fine jewelry clearance and boy they sure look shiny and sparkly on TV. Does anyone know if mine can be re plated and / or coated with whatever was used? I don’t know if it’s worth it or not, they aren’t necessarily jaw droppers but they fit my arthritic fingers and are good everyday rings. Any info and advice is greatly appreciated. A big hug to all of my old friends and BTW my “thanks to Joy haircut” has grown only 3 inches in a year! And yes, I still haven’t gotten over it.
Good to “see” you darlin’ but holy bleep!
Sorry about the slow growth! sigh – awful
!. Have you cleaned them really good? I have to say I do love my sparkle sparkle better than any other cleaner and if the stone is good it does bring the sparkle back.
2. To redo the plating they have to take all the stones out and reset them. A jeweler can tell you per stone cost- and they need to do re-plating and work w/ rhodium.
Probably not worth it. I understand wanting to try and fix them but it will probably be an ongoing issue.
Any time they try and use the “diamond sparkle” coating as a selling point change the channel fast!
I might try returning them even well past the return date and ask that the buyers and quality control have a good look at them. It is my understanding that Carol just curates but HSN has them made.
HSN needs to do much better- they have been in the business long enough.
I’m so sorry those rings did not last. Cash in the trash jewelry with the pretense of fine jewelry is unacceptable.
Gise, as soon as I saw your name I was wondering about your hair and every time I see Joy on I think of you and change the channel! I can’t believe you’re still dealing with that disaster. I won’t be any help concerning the rings. I own 3….2 white and 1 yellow….and mine are fine, even after being worn in a chlorine pool but I have to admit I’ve only worn them about 7 times. I was thinking of ordering the other colors to put between the 2 white ones, but now you’ve got me wondering. Otherwise, hope all is well.
