Colleen Lopez, jewelry collection, robbery
Hi, I’m new to this and I would love for Colleen to see this. For years, I have collected gemstone rings, mostly from watching her shows. I had amassed a lovely collection and had one of her jewelry boxes to store them in. Well, my husband and I lived with my elderly Mom and when she passed away, our home was broken into and I came home from her funeral to find all of my lovely rings were gone. I had them all lovingly in Colleen’s jewelry box, convenient, they just picked up the box and took the whole thing. I was and am heartbroken. I had chrome diopside, amythyst, pink sapphire, tanzanite, ruby and diamond, iolite. You can’t even find iolite anywhere…..I bought all of these on easy pay or on sale over many years. Now I have nothing. I just ordered a chrome diopside today in sterling, mine was in gold which I prefer, but the price was right. Now I need a new box too. Thanks for listening and I hope Colleen sees this as I will have to slowly rebuild my collection.
Uniceander, welcome to the Community even though your post is about a very unfortunate occurrence. Condolences for your mother’s passing. I’m so sorry you had the additional trauma of being robbed during her funeral. I hope you can eventually replace most of your treasures.
Sorry for your loss. Theves often check obits for funerals and target the decested persons home because there usually isn’t anyone there till after the services. Yes pawn shops are a good place to find your stolen things, also the internet auction sites.
I would check the local pawn shops to see if I could get a lead on who took them.
Uniceander, I read your story and was transported back in time 7 years ago. My beloved Mom, who I was caring for, had also just died. I, too, had just purchased Colleen’s jewelry boxes. I was so excited to fix it up for my Mom, making it easier for her to have the rings all in one place. As we both had the same ring size, I also placed many of my rings in the box. Shortly after her death, I came home to find both kitchen windows wide open. I was terrified because Mom and I had 5 cats, Since this apparently happened in the morning while I was at work, I tearfully realized that all of our cats were gone, and they were inside cats, and it was winter. It was then that I came to the realization that the jewelry meant nothing…I called the police, sat on the chair and cried my eyes out for the cats! — and then, a miracle happened, one by one they came out from under the bed, from the pantry, from under a chair, from behind the curtains. I realized the miracle was that the all the kitchen windows were open for 8 hours, and not one cat jumped out of the open windows. From that moment on, I haven’t bought a piece of jewelry, I don’t need it, I have no desire for it. Having my pets alive and well was all I needed. They also took my new tv and emptied out every drawer from my Mom dressers. That really hurt to see her things scattered all over the floor. I kept the jewelry box, but now I only fill it with costume jewelry that I had. They never found out who stole everything, but I do not care, because it had changed my whole outlook on where your treasures really lie.
Uniceander, The first thing I thought of when reading your post is—Someone you know, stole your belongings. If you find out who did the dirty deed, forgive him or her and then call the police and sent their narrow behinds to jail. Keep your head up and remember your mom. Be well, Luelue.
I’m so sorry to hear that, and at such a tender moment!
Maybe those us us w/out one need to look into an in home safe.
I hope you just love that new ring and wear it in good health.
One thing I have learned is that forgivness is an important key to the Kingdom. I hope you can find peace in your heart mind and soul.
I am so sorry you lost your collection of rings. Its sad how others will take what isn’t theirs. Most likely sold or pawned for almost nothing.Sadly the person replacing it will have to buy again at full price.
Quiet a few places do still sell iolite but it has gotten very pricy compared to what it use to sell for here on HSN.I have 3 or 4 pieces that I bought on HSN long ago.It is a beautiful stone.
Maybe the police will locate the rings at some point.I sure hope so.Don’t give up hope of finding them.
