Just listened to Colleen Lopez state chrome diopside is only found in one place in the world. Not true! Aside from Siberia it is also found in Pakistan.
Im sorry my question is what designer blouse or dress you were wearing on Sat. 27th show with Jenn Miller at 6:00pm to 8:00pm. It was white with an oriental flare patterned design. i’ve seen you wear it before and love it would like to see more of that designer? Whose is it? I’ll look here for a response. Thank you Rosie from Hawaii
I love sharing and learning about gemstones – thank you for your note!
You are so right – Diopside is mined in many parts of the world!
Chrome Diopside(as you know) is the emerald green variety that has really put this stone on the map! Since 1988 when they discovered a rich deposit of Chrome Diopside in Siberia (nick named Siberian Emerald) the gem world fell in love with this unique source of vibrant green material!
I would love to host a “diopside show” featuring all the varios colors of this beautiful, natural gem. I’ve lsited some of the variets below (it even comes in blue/purple!)
We have not seen offered any material from Pakistan, but thanks for the heads up (I thought this material was Tashmarine – yellow/green in color). There’s always something new to learn about gemstones!
Chrome Diopside – Deep forest-green variety of Diopside. Its color is caused from traces of the element chromium.
Star Diopside – Diopside polished into a cabochon that displays asterism in the form of a four-rayed star. Its colors is usually very dark green to black.
Tashmarine Diopside – Light yellowish-green form of Diopside from a recently exploited deposit in eastern Uzbekistan. This term was recently coined by the Columbia Gem House company in Vancouver. Violane – Light blue to purple, manganese-rich variety of Diopside.
Take care and thank you for watching!!
I hope Colleen reads your post so she will have the information for future presentations.
Just last week I purchased a pair of chrome diopside studs from JTV. They’re petite and very pretty. It was my first purchase of this gemstone and I am quite pleased.
