We asked: Who has been your worst houseguest, and why?
You answered: The worst houseguest I ever had was my mom’s bird. The bird squawked and squawked so much that it gave me a migraine. Everytime I tried to feed the bird, the bird wanted to bite my hand. I was so glad to give that bird back to my mom.
She didn’t exactly stay the night but it would totally have to be a neighbor friend I had. We were moving and had a get together. She showed up and asked to shower even though she lived right across the street. Browsed my cabinets and helped herself to anything in the bathroom.
My worst houseguests were Mama, the field mouse, and her two babies. We got the babies rather quickly as they were too dumb and got themselves trapped on an adhesive sheet. But Mama mouse was very smart. She could lick the peanut butter off the trap and not get caught. I finally got new quick snapping traps and in less than 30 minutes of setting them up, got her.
A visiting Dog who you know what’d in my office, on my couch and then also you know what’d on the downstairs floor.
I would have to say my worst houseguest was an uninvited tarantula looking spider the size of my fist that was in my shower. All I wanted to do was take a shower when I discovered it.I ran to get something to trap it and wound up showering in my other bathroom.

HI Adam. I’d have to say, my husbands grandfather, he refused to take blood pressure pills, for his hypertension, his way of cure, was Garlic! he had me add it to any meal, of course I only added it to his plate! sometimes I would try to get away, making believe I forgot. but there he was reminding me there was no garlic, for the entire time he stayed over, my hands smelled like garlic! but what topped it all, was when he would take a nap in the afternoon, closing the door that garlic smell was like a gas chamber! the morning was even worst! he was an active man, he used to go for a walk every day, of course his sweat smelled like what? Garlic! the same after using the bathroom. It took quite some time to get rid of the garlic smell in my house, but at least I knew I was protected from any vampire lurking around.
Our worst house guest was a college friend who had since married. She brought her family, including her dog. When they left, it looked like a bomb went off in our guest room. It took me a week to recover from their visit.
Adam, this is going to sound so old fashioned! My daughter’s mother inlaw! All i heard, at home we do it this way. At home we make it this way. At home we talk this way. Being from afar and love the USA, i showed her how we do it here! I got everything we love and appreciate in the south, made a beautiful basket. I told her, that’s how we do it here. I beleave, she received the message! And my daughter with my beloved “son” are married for over 15 years. Got to love them ALL!
My in-laws family! Because they feel like they’re untitled to be there thinking they are your family when you’re the in-law of their family member. And stay longer than they were invited to stay.
My Father in law.
He smoked, was unpleasant, took over the house when he came. After a few bad scenario he was not welcome but continued to visit anyway until, I finally said he would have to stay in a hotel. He did, and at least left at night.
He had other sons and felt he had a right to come when he pleased and try to control their homes and children too I was the only one who would not put up with it.
My brother-in-law was the worst house guest.
Why? Every time it was Christmas he would be so and rude:) How he would get everything from my parents when they pass away:)
Hi Adam, this is Nanette. The most difficult were French exchange students, Three HS sophomores. Dinners were a challenge, they did not care for any entree I made. They were never at the School for pick-up, they didn’t interact with the rest of the family. While washing there clothes, I thew my sons’s pants in also, I open the wash machine here some packaged condoms. I was livid. Well after I got mad at the boy’s. Later my son did fess up, & told me they were his.
I did plan a huge field trip, for the class, I guess some good came out of it.
Hi Adam, My worst houseguest was back in my single days, a girlfriend of mine had called me and said she was coming down to Florida to visit me on her vacation for a week, ( I had moved there about a year prior ) so I said o.k. and she arrived. Everybody who knows me including her, knows that I don’t cook, I can’t even boil water or toast a piece of bread. ( yes I did inform my husband of this on the very first day I meet him, I don’t cook, I don’t know how to cook, and I don’t want to learn to cook, in case you were wondering ) So of course when she arrived I have no food in my apartment, so we went to the market and I told her to take a cart and just get some stuff she likes to eat for the week, I said we will probably go out to eat a few times they have some awesome restaurants and we will eat at my parents on Sunday because that is what I always did and my parents knew her from when we all lived in NY. So I told her just pick up some cereal she likes for breakfast, don’t worry about me, I don’t eat breakfast and then it will be only 2 days eating at the apartment, so I told her I would pay for it. Well I couldn’t find her for awhile, when I did, her cart was packed, and I mean PACKED FULL of food, I thought she was just being silly and grabbed someone’s cart to play a trick on me, after I fainted, JK, that was HER cart, so I paid for it, it took half my pay check, we went out for lunch every day, she just assumed because I guess I was the host, I don’t know, I paid for every meal, we went out 4 night for dinner because the food did not last past the 2nd day, neither did the huge pile of snacks, which I had to go to the store 2 more times to get her snacks. I was never so glad to see someone go home as I was this girl, you would NOT believe what happened at my parents house, OMG, but this is so long, sorry, anyway’s when she left, I went to mommy and daddy’s house walked in, broke down crying and had a mini breakdown, not kidding, I really had a mini breakdown, I had to borrow money from my parents to pay my rent, I was sooo broke from the money I spent on groceries and food out that it took me months to try to recover from the 5 day visit.
the mouse that I can’t catch…it gets me up at 3:30 every nite/morning for the past 6 weeks…I am exhausted! ( have tea cup poodles that think they are fearious, like a streak of lightning they are at the dishwasher yapping!)
