What has been your most memorable Thanksgiving moment?

Hi Adam! My most memorable Thanksgiving moment was when I pulled out my turkey and placed on the table for my family to admire, and the whole bag of innards was sticking out of the turkeys behind. Silly me forgot to remove the bag before cooking. It was so embarrassing! One thing about mistakes is it never happened again.

My most memorable Thanksgiving is when all the family gather around the dinner table:)
We had sweet potatoes, turkey with dressing, cottage cheese, my Grandma’s homemade rolls,
pumpkin pie with whipped cream:) Oh yes, and cranberry sauce with real cranberries:)

Hi Adam 😀 My most memorable moment was when our children was old enough to answer the question of what are you thankful for. And from then on became a tradition plus eating before noon LOL

One moment in particular that still warms my heart to this day is when my kids made construction paper turkeys. On each feather they wrote what they were thankful for. The usual kid stuff such as their dog, bed, video games, etc. What made my heart burst with love was the fact that they each wrote they were thankful God chose us to be their parents. You see, my kids are adopted. It was the greatest gift ever ❤️

When I was 13 or 14 my mother was hospitalized with a severe case of lupus and wouldn’t be home to cook the Thanksgiving dinner. I didn’t know how to cook anything then except eggs and hamburgers. I sat next to my mothers hospital bed while she gave me instructions on how to prep the turkey for roasting and how to make her pork sausage dressing (both in a casserole dish and in the turkey) along with how to make the gravy from the drippings. I listened so very carefully as it was the most important meal of the whole year to make and there would be 3 generations at the house for dinner.
I can’t tell you how proud I was when everything came out perfect just like my mother would have made it. I felt so grown up that day. Me and my dad packed a special plate of food for my mother and took it to her in the hospital. She was so proud of me.

My most memorable Thanksgiving moment was November 23, 1972, when my husband and I got married. We then ate Thanksgiving dinner at my Mom’s with family and friends. This year our anniversary will be on Thanksgiving day also.

Well Adam…that would be the thanksgiving spent in the emergency room..at the hospital! A very painful and stubborn migraine had other plans for my family’s thanksgiving day.It took a couple hours to find relief .but finally..THANKFULLY..my family huddled at home over cold turkey&stuffing.Dinner never tasted so good! ddshoppy:^)

After the table was set and complete, dinner was ready for serving, and I had just finished plating the gravy when I turned around and there were flames coming from the front of my Gas stove. A disconnection behind the knob had Occurred and flames were flowing 12 inches out of my stove . My grandson call the fire department and within 15 minutes there was no evidence there was any problem at all and when my guests arrived they had no clue of that near disaster.

Guess it would have to be when I was 21 and moved to California with my friend. We were so poor,, couldnt afford a turkey. Back then we ate a lot of potatoes and grilled cheese sandwiches (they were really cheap back then). My oldest sister (who I lost this year), came to visit with us for Thanksgiving. Tried to make it as special as possible. Had no idea how to cook much. So we bought a pumpkin and decided to make pumpkin pies out of that. No internet back then, so could not find a recipe.

Made it as smooth as possible, but no sugar, no eggs, no cinnamon….YUK!!!

Let me preface this by saying I’m a foodie and I love thanksgiving dinner. When I was 17 I had major jaw surgery and my mouth was wired shut from Halloween through the first week in December. I was miserable smelling all of the delicious food so I put some turkey, gravy and dressing in the blender and tried to drink it through a straw!

As a newlywed, I learned how to make my Mother’s apple. pumpkin and coconut custard pies that first Thanksgiving as a married woman. Mom spent hours making her special Thanksgiving cookies that she only made for this holiday. As she entered the dining room, she carried a beautiful tray filled with her special cookies; then disaster stuck. Mom tripped over her own feet and the tray went flying. All the cookies were in pieces on the floor, along with the antique tray that belonged to my great-grandmother.. As Mom sat on the floor in tears, she said,”Well, Let’s be thankful that Diane made the pies this year.” And we were.

My most memorable Thanksgivings were special moments spent with family, home cooked taditional meals. my grandparents, brother, his wife and children (their adults now) and whom ever my mom and dad invited.

I haven’t had home cooked thanksgiving in over 20+ years. All were in MY where I grew up.

I miss those times, as since, all have passed, except mom, but she’s got altzheimers.

one memorable was she forgot the cranberry sauce, WHAT NO MARSHMALLOWS EITHER LAUGHING.. I’LL ALWAYS TREASURE THESE MOMENTS.

I’VE SPENT THE LAST 3 THANKSGIVINGS ALONE

My most memorable Thanksgiving moment was meeting my stepfather’s family for the first time. It had always been my mom, my dad, and I but after my dad’s death, my mom remarried. We were extremely nervous and it took us a long time to just get over the excitement and eat a Thanksgiving dinner.

My most memorable thanksgiving moment would have to be the first thanksgiving my husband and I spent together. I was 7 months pregnant with our son and he came home on leave. (we lived on opposite sides of the country for 3 years) he had not seen me since I had become with child he cried tears of joy and just could not stop telling me how beautiful I looked and how thankful he was to have someone so strong to stand with him even though I was all alone. I cried infront of the whole family and fell in love all over again.

Adam,we all closed our eyes for prayer and our dog helped herself to our beautiful turkey.We then all looked at each other and thanked God for our dog.
