What got you started on HSN?
I am a rockhound. (I collect rocks, minerals, crystals, and fossils.)
One night back in Dec. I was flipping channels and I came across Jay King on HSN. I stopped to listen to him talk about his travels and his jewelry. I was hooked. I found myself going back to HSN to see if Jay was on.
Then I saw Heidi Daus and loved her jewelry too. Now I own several pieces of Jay and Heidi’s jewelry.
I was wondering how others got started.
That’s an interesting way of getting started on a home shopping network. Have you ever checked out emily’s gems? It’s a cool website, and I’ve ordered several gemstones and crystals from that site.
My mother got me started on HSN when you could order via Tootie. I can’t even remember what Tootie was. I think it was an automated system you could use instead of talking to a live person. This was back in the ’80’s.
It was 1986 i was home on leave from Okinawa and they had this new stuff on tv. I was fascinated and there was a host blowing a horn when someone ordered or it was a their birthday. It was corny but personal and just cool. it felt like home from the start. ok i sure hope it was hsn not qvc, either way it was great and hsn baby all the way!!!! Awww came back to edit after I read so many wonderful posts and I am not nuts it was HSN!!! We had one station overseas in the 80’s and when I got back to Okinawa I had to tell everyone about the silly horn and many other things going on in the states like pizza hut delivery, don johnson and vern 🙂
Night time feedings with a new baby was how I found HSN & QVC both.
I would have to watch HSN with the sound off because back then they had Tootie.
Tootie made loud honking horn noises & it would startle the baby.
So I could watch Qvc with the sound on & try to stay awake or
watch HSN with the sound off and try to lip read.
I used the Spin Mop at a friend’s house….so I ordered one and then several for gifts…and the rest is history!! I got m\y HSN card (which I pay off every month) and the extra flex pays are great! I use every coupon and watch for free shipping!
I bought my daughter a beautiful Heidi Daus ring for her birthday. She watched Heidi on HSN on March 10th for the Cinderella Event. Now she likes HSN too.
The choices in fashion and beauty, I love the free shjpping during the events, the flex pay , and the clearance is top notch. I started with the Andrew Lessman’s vitamins many years ago and have slowly tried things to see if I like them or not. I became an Antthony fan, Taya,Tweak*d, Rhonda Shear, and am still discovering great things about HSN in general. I may be over 60 but I love the arcade
I was married in 1988, and almost immediately had to take medical leave (ovarian cancer, caught early during surgery for something else, whew! ‘Still went through 6 chemo treatments though). I had never had cable when I was single, so it was a whole new experience for me. It was a stressful time, I was only in my 20s, so I found that I veered toward channels where people talked in real time, and I found HSN calming. With HSN there was no bad news reported, no stress, no gore as in some movie channels, etc. ‘Just pleasant people talking about products. I only purchased occasionally, but HSN made for good company when I was in bed and not feeling well between chemos.
Then when our son came along I got out of watching HSN for about 20 years or so. One day a few years ago, I was flipping through the channels, and saw someone who looked like Maya Rudolph from SNL. It was Shannon Smith! I thought she was funny, so I stopped to watch, then realized they have a web site now. HSN certainly has come a long way since then!
Hated going to malls or shopping on my days off.
Wife got hooked. I just tag along for the ride…Ronnie
Great question pinkdoll!
I got hooked after the birth of my first child. All those late night feedings with nothing good on tv. HSN was doing a craft event one night, and I found it while flipping through the channels. I think I spent a lot of money that first night -LOL!
Kathy has been swinging around the shopping channels since 1992. One year at Xmas she filled her list up almost entirely at HSN. No more being drug out to the malls in the freezing cold and trying to find a parking space. She was hooked and I was off the hook….Ronnie
I became a member in 1998. Moved to the country from the city and at my new resident you could only get HSN and I was use to QVC. Never heard of a channel HSN. Yes, I was angry at the time. Went into a panic attack….lol….:womanlol:…"NO QVC…WHAT AM I GONNA DO?" So after I calmed down and watched new channel HSN and all the new channels on the new cable company it was not bad at all. All new merchandise to me. Sooooo, I said, "I can do this channel. I really like it. Ok now, bye-bye QVC." So as of 1998 HSN has been a member of my family home. Been really pleased with everything. :womanwink: Wow, I have been with them for 17 years.
Keep up the great work HSN!
It is my Mom’s fault. :womanlol: I saw her order from HSN. She loved Bob, and she received many boxes from HSN. :womansurprised:
I also love rocks. I have bunches of all sorts. I also have crystal, amethyst, and rose quartz beds.
I was tired of going from mall to mall…and from store to store. On HSN, I can see the items presented and shop right from my home. I have purchased products featured on HSN that I did not know I needed….I did not even know that some of the products that I purchased existed.
