The Monday Night Show Asks: What’re the 3 most unique ways you’ve used sheets (not on a bed)?
I have used a sheet as:
1: Curtains in my bedroom, because they were long enough for my really tall windows (bought twin XL)
2. As a slip cover for my living room chair that didn’t match my new couch
3. As a blanket on the living room floor for my 4 month old daughter 🙂
-I know this counts as being on a bed, but I have taken two sheets and sewn them together to my make my own duvet cover!
When I was young we used sheets as costumes ,being ghosts and later in college used as a toga and thirdly ,tied together to escape at night out the window , away to the party !!
my 3 grand kiddos love to have me get a sheet and make a tent I spray paint my patio furniture with them an wrap my green shrub in the freez
1: I’ve used sheets to make a Ghost Costume (for myself when I was a kid and for my children too).
2: I’ve used sheets to make a Wilma Flintstone Costume (daughter wore it Junior Year in High School for Homecoming — her class had to dress as Flintstone Characters for Homecoming Week).
3: I’ve used sheets to make Togas for parties (I went to multiple Toga Parties in college, ’nuff said *hiccup*).
I too, am loving this question and even more, the answers. After reading some I’m like, oh yeah I’ve done that and then there are others that I will need to remember to put to use.
Another one, but I have not done it myself, ragrugs. I own several that were made by my great grandmother and must be over 60 years old.
THANKS ADAM FOR THIS…."GET SOCIAL". This is so much fun and we learn from each other.
As for as sheets…..Love to make tents in the house for grandchildren, they just think this is so cool. We will set them up (each grandchild has their own) then we pop popcorn and they eat, then I go to each tent and eat with them and visit and play….how fun is that?
Love to use old sheets cut-up for cleaning, dusting and mirrors and glass.
My mother and grandmother used sheets for the backing of quilts. When I lived in Louisiana all the women would meet in a barn (I was a child). We would seat around speak french, eat, have coffee, laugh and make the most beautiful quilts.
I have used sheets cut-up to wrap a wedding, shower, or just any gift. Placing a beautiful ribbon/bow on it. Really different and clean looking. Always got compliments.
Place on sofa cushions to change look….just tuck them in TIGHT.
Yes, I have made beautiful kitchen curtains. This way I can change them during seasons. FUN!
WOW WE ARE ALL SO TALENTED…..I GUARANTEE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1). as togas for a school play. 2). I have a very large dining table, and I use pretty sheets to cover it – much cheaper and pretier and easier to find than actual table covers. 3). As a screen for diafilm projection.
PS. Your show rocks!
Years ago I used flat sheets to "wall paper" my walls in my apartment. A bottle of liquid starch and pretty sheets cover ugly bare walls and when you move out they peel off so easy! with no damage. It’s a simple way to decorate when your contract won’t let you paint. :smileywink:
I use them for picnics on the beach. Also lay down on the beach and watch the sunset. Keep one in the trunk in case I get stuck in cop weather…a flannel one and cover my back car seat for my dog to cuddle on on road trips. When I was in my first apartment they were curtains for a year ??
When my kids were young it was always the rule to spread out a white sheet on the floor so could see the legos and not step on them …. and cleanup was a breeze..just collect all four corners and they were all picked up. We put the wrapped up sheet in a rubbermaid container!
I got stuck in a small snow drift one time and I did not have a shovel or cat litter for traction. What I did have was clean freshly washed laundry from the laundrymat. So I dug out the tires best I could with a big gulp cup, ripped the sheet in 2, wadded it up and shoved it up against and under the tires. It gave me just enough traction to get out of the drift and get on my way.
I collected the sheet pieces that I used and washed them up. I made covers for the dog beds with the kitty cat printed sheets. The dogs really liked the cats on the sheets! I had only had this sheet set for only a couple of weeks and it was new. The dogs got to sleep on my sheets more than I did!
Curtains, furniture covers, tablecloths, wall hangings and I even hung a sheet by the corners on the ceiling for a "dropped ceiling." It was a very small room.
Guess I have more than 3 uses but sheets are very useful in many ways.
Oh my..cover clothes in the closet…curtains, made a few summer dresses…upholstery…used one old one to cover my dashboard one super hot summer…a tent out in my backyard for over a makeshift clothesline for my grandkids…need to think about this some more. I KNOW I have done more with sheets.
In a pinch, a Christmas tree skirt!
1. Toga Party!
2. Cover a headboard, footstool, chair pad, pillow… matchy, matchy!
3. To cover my sofa when kids are around.
