HSN Overnight Programming Update
Hi Everyone. As many of you know, we tested airing previously-taped “best of” shows earlier this month. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the changes and will be incorporating your suggestions into future programming.
We wanted to let you know what to expect starting Friday, September 1.
• Our 3:00am ET – 6:00am ET shows will be pre-taped airings of some of our best sellers. Based on your recent feedback, we are shortening the length of time we use previously recorded material and we are changing how we edit these pre-taped hours so they seem less choppy. We’ve received feedback in the past that we spend a long time on one product, so our goal is to bring you the best of HSN in the quickest way possible. The shows will be themed and use hosts to guide you through why the clips are together in a program.
• The 10 FAVES show is going away for now, however, the “top 10 items of the day” format will move to the first hour of HSN Today (7:00am ET). This move gives more viewers the opportunity to see the top items. We love that you’ve had such a positive response to the top 10 format and we will continue to evaluate bringing 10 FAVES back.
• We will still air live overnight shows for special events like Summer and Holiday Host Pick.
We know many of you enjoy Helen Keaney’s presentations (we do, too!). Starting in October, you can catch Helen and Robin Wall in The Weekly Wrap on HSN2. Check the HSN2 Program Guide (toward mid-September) for more details.
Please continue to share feedback!

10 FAVS was the best and I looked forward to it every overnight along with Helen…my favorite host. so far the changes aren’t good, I am also disappointed that you got rid of Geoff Cowan…why introduce him with such fanfare and then not give him a chance?
While I understand your right to make changes to your programming, I am very disappointed that you feel it necessary to remove Helen Keany from one station to another lesser viewed channel Now I find out you have done the same process to my other favorite presenter, Robin Wall, all the while your programming is aimed at your younger and more affluent customers. I am going to miss watching your old programming but I am in the wrong group to be heard!
We all as a people should understand that we need to work with HSN,so they don’t go out of business. It is not just what we need, but also what HSN needs.I don’t know about you but I really don’t like QVC.Don’t be so selfish people that we end up losing HSN.I say HSN do what you need to do to make money. This is business with:us,or you.👼
I really liked Helen on late at night with the “10 Faves,” and I hope
you’ll consider bringing her back with that show. I’m in California
where she came on at midnight, and I would change channels from the
late-night shows especially to watch her presentations. She did a
great job, and I found her more fun and informative than watching the
second-half of Jimmy Fallon or Kimmel, etc. After their monologues,
it was fun to turn to HSN to see Helen and whatever the new things
were on “Ten Faves.” I really miss it!
I do find all the re-run programming a real turn-off, and generally,
I won’t watch it. For whatever reason, I much prefer live programming.
I think others do, too, and you may be losing business because of the
reruns, in the long-run. I actually did like getting a “heads-up” on
the new items from Helen, and we did make some purchases because of
her show. Please reconsider your current strategy. Thanks for reading
If I want to watch reruns of programming, I can watch evine…or MeTV.
For my 2c, you could give up on HSN2, it’s either too costly on cable for many members (me) or not a smooth look-see streaming and like others said, sizes and colors are gone by the time they air… so your customers wind up being frustrated and not watching anyway.
Hmmm… then we wind up looking items up on our tablets, laptops, etc… not watching HSN2.
Save the money on the extra station and bring back “all live, all the time on HSN” would be just fine with me…. and probably other shoppers too.
JADiva, you are so right. You can never find your size or color. I feel its only the leftovers that are shown. I would rather look at a test screen!!!
Sorry I don’t agree with the 10 faves no longer be shown. It was and honestly is one of the best shows on your network and of course Helen makes the show. The 10 am faves is a bonus to WEST-COAST. These quick presentations showcase many items (HP,Roku, etc) that I would never find online on my own. PLEASE bring back HELEN and 10 faves at 3am and repeat at 7AM. thanks.
kit_ken, you have your time-zones reversed LOL. 7 a.m. in the East (which they said was when they were going to air the top 10 items) is only 4 am in the West.
I watch most of HSN in those wee morning hours. Too bad, I do a lot of shopping then. the problem with prerecorded shows on HSN and QVC is many size options are already gone, then you get frustrated and just turn the tv off. You now will no better than the rest of cable tv at this hours and just read a book.
I am not interested in prerecorded airings! I’m on the east coast but 3 am is only midnight on the west coast and why should people on central, mountain and pacific time zones be subjected to previously recorded and badly edited productions? Helen is the BEST consistent late night host and I do not ever look at HSN2. I will miss the 10 FAVES and do not and will not watch at 7 am while getting ready for the day. I have never ever seen anyone complain about presentations being too long during the overnight hours, in fact Helen always kept things moving along showing more items per segment. This happens during the daytime and evening programming with many presentations just droning on and on. After the Liberty announcement many of us read Bill Brand’s plans to try to attract younger shoppers and in my opinion the proposed changes are way off base to accomplish this. Just like with the new forum format you are not listening!
Sorry I don’t agree with the 10 faves no longer be shown. It was and honestly is one of the best shows on your network and of course Helen makes the show. As for her being on HSN2 does that mean she will no longer be doing any shows on the regular station?
I have been getting the feeling that since the QVC deal HSN is changing and not in a good way. I stopped shopping on QVC and came over to HSN quite some time ago because of the better products, better CS, show hosts that didn’t act like kids when they are in their 40’s (Shawn Killenger on QVC) that is very annoying. I hope that your new hosts will be more professional, although I have noticed one is not. She is very childish in her presentations, her attitude is “look at me” not the product when she is on I turn off the TV. Sorry I do not know her name she is a very annoying little blonde .
Sense we like HSN we as a people must work with HSN to understand that it is not just about us the buyers, but also about them:otherwise if we got everything we wanted they would go out of business. We need to look for what we need, and what they need.👼Thank you for reading this.
I don’t mind the pre recorded shows. I understand it’s a cost saving measure and prefer pre recorded shows to possible price increases. I like the idea of less time per item. Themed shows or a time slot of related products is a great idea. Better editing and streamlining will be greatly appreciated. I think Lizzie818 brought up a good point about different time zones. Let’s consider our west coast friends and make trivia and shows as convenient as possible for all. Thanks for reaching out and listening.
I have no interest in pre tape airings, and can go online and see them. Glad to see you appreciate Helen Keaney as much as many many of her fans do. She is original, and a very funny lady. Not to mention just gorgeous along with having a very sincere and professional delivery.
Thanks for the update.
I hope some of these “pre-tape airings” will include some crafting items. 👍🏼
I don’t watch much on HSN because I don’t have a TV, but I do see the live streaming as I play in the Arcade. I have shopped more than once for an item I’ve seen there.
I noticed you said you were moving the top 10 items to 7 a.m. ET so more people can see them. I would appreciate it if HSN would put more consideration for western viewers when you set your show times. While 7 a.m. is probably a great time to catch viewers, 4 a.m. (PT) isn’t. Maybe you could compromise by aiming for the best time in the middle of the country with it being a little later in the east and a little earlier in the west. The same is true in reverse for the 3-6 a.m. time for the pre-recorded time. That means that it starts at midnight in the west. I know many of us are still on the computer at midnight local time wherever we are.
This isn’t the first time I’ve noticed that timing all seems to be set for what’s best on the east coast–Trivia is another example that immediately comes to mind. It runs from 8-11 ET, but that means that many people in the west miss the first hour because they’re just leaving work at 5 PT.
