Host’s selling products
When i’m watching hsn, i hate it when a host is selling a product, theyt stay on the same item 20+ or more minutes. I get bored and want to see the next item(s) for sale.. I wish they would limit talking on the item for no more than 10 minutes!!!
SO IS IT REALLY A LIMITED EDITION ???
Yes I saw the same informercial too. I thought the channel lineup had changed overnight again! I think there may be more of these type of programs out there too that we have not spotted.
Wow…I wasn’t the only one to see that…guess the goal is sell, sell, sell in combination with money, money, money.
Ol’ JM seems to have her fingers in a lot of "pies".
I saw it too, Pipman. No, it wasn’t a HSN channel. It was an informercial. The website associated with the informerical is powered by HSN. They must be trying a new marketing format to reach a broader audience. Amy was the host. I bought my son one of Keith’s guitars and he really likes it. I was hesitant to order when I found that JM is involved. Whenever she is part of the product, I do a lot of research because of the stories (Joy/Iman purse, Green Pans) regarding quality. The guitar worked out well for my son. It is a good value for the money and decent quality.
PIPMAN Was it on HSN2—-PRE-AIRED ??? I cannot imagine AMY outside of HSN’S NETWORK ???
"Limited closed Edition"
How about 2 hours for the today’s special?
OMG, talk about BORING.
On one season of the Apprentice, there was a task where the teams had to choose a product, price it, and sell it on air at one of the shopping channels (I think it was the Q but I’m not sure). I got a lot of insight into how the hosts do their job by watching this episode. The host had the earpiece, and there was a person on the other end watching a real-time graph of sales. When the host said something that triggered a huge burst of sales, they would get a message in their ear to repeat that point. Like if they said, "This would make a great gift for the man in your life" and they saw the sales jump, the host would work that line into the sales pitch a few more times.
They have this on-line selling thing down to a science. Everything they do is designed to maximize sales.
The hosts don’t deceide how much time is spent on a particilar product. The producers who see how well or poorly an item is selling. A big swing in either direction can affect the time spent on the item.
The producer speaks to the host, and if there is one, the guest, through an ear piece. Most of them wear it in their right ear.
I’ve heard that alot from other people who don’t probably watch it as much as we do. I wish they would bring some men’s stuff (clothes, shoes etc.) There’s probably not many men watching.
I often find myself yelling at the TV to "move on, already – nobody wants that thing!" LOL. My theory is that the *good* stuff that is flying out the door, they have no reason to spend any length of time on – they can get the intel from their producers that it is clearly a popular item and will likely sell out. The things they spend an eternity trying to think up nice things to say about are the duds that are *not* moving quickly. But that’s just my theory! :womanfrustrated:
any amount of time on an item i’m not interested in is too long, eh? but i’m guessing there are others interested….or maybe just tuning in.
they have a huge data collection of time vs items sold. i’m betting there is a method to the madness.
I have often thought the same thing. I think HSN does spend too long on products. I would like to see them speed up the shows a little. Too much small talk not enough on the product or not the right info on the product that we want to know about. Like PROPER SIZING.
Ronzoine–I really think the host love to talk to you- Girl we have to get you in the HOLIDAY SPIRIT.
I can say the HSN host beat the local dept stores as the do not speak, they GROWL- Just enjoy the show and know they are talking directly to you.
You seem like a fun kinda girl .Bet we could talk forever-BE OF CHEER
