Hosting on Christmas day?
HSN is having the hosts work on Christmas? They used to get from midnight Christmas Eve to midnight Christmas Day off. I think they should be able to be with their families. Jmho.
Probably pre recorded.I dont see any host listed in the program file until midnight with Adam Freeman and Home Clearance show.Just watched for a bit and its running across the bottom that they will return to live at 11 pm…so its recorded.Probably some shopping today.I know I have bought a couple of things from another site.Sales are starting.
Cupatea, Hi…How do or how would you clean the craft foam after you have stamped with it? Also, Simon Says Stamps, sells the wood blocks to mount the stamps if you are interested. just an fyi.
Happy Crafting !!
Hi There Possum29,
Yes I did post pictures of my Gemini tote bag. it is now in the craft day thread that we just had a few weeks ago.
I too went over to the cricut forum and it is now a read only as they moved it all to face book so they said.
Yes you can cut craft foam with your cricut explore air. I think that the B SNC can do the same things as the cricuts.
I got craft foam over at Michael’s and it was cheap enough for something like 65 pcs. It is called creatology foam sheets. It comes in an assortment of colors in the pack. I believe these foam sheets are 1/8 thick which are fine for my SNC. They are 6×9 and worked out pretty good so far.
I got all my stamps cut. I am now working on the backing for them. The piece that I will glue them on to. I am also using foam for that because I do not have any type of wooden blocks.
I am also going to make a stamp of a tea cup just for ha ha’s. I really do not know what I will do with my stamps when I am finished making them. I will say this the zodiac designs cut out like the ones you find in the craft stores the ones in the plastic containers. I was pretty pleased with the cuts.
I have instructions from Brother scan n cut on making the stamps out of rubber. I am just having a hard time finding a rubber that is really like a thin membrane style material. I do not think craft stores carry such an item.
I am not sure if you have to make any pressure adjustments when you cut foam on your cricut I know the air one has the dial and you just turn to that if it says foam then you are more then likely all set I would think. You might have to switch out your cutting blade.
Yes I agree maybe take pics of our crafting things. I was hoping that more people that come to the home and craft forum would show more of their creations. I love to learn new things and see how someone else does the same thing I might be doing but do it in a different maybe easier way then how I do it.
Well if you do decide to try the foam post it in a new post. Then we can just chat from there.
You have a great evening and remember Keep calm and craft on.
Your HSN friend,
Did you make a Gemini totebag and post pics here. I remember someone did way back and it was really good. I think we should light a fire under the Craft threads and start posting pics of our projects. I used to go over to the Cricut message board to see what people were doing, but they closed the board. I have the Explore Air and they say it will cut foam but I’ve never tried it. Maybe I’ll follow your lead and give it a try.
Craft On My Friend,
I will look forward to your review of the Wescott cutter. I too liked the price there as well. Before you know it you will be getting your craftin groove on.
I have been making stamps with my B SNC. They are coming out pretty good. The SNC has zodiac icon designs all twelve of them so I am just for fun making them as stamps with craft foam so I will see how it all comes out.
Well you have a great day:smileyhappy:
Keep calm and craft on:smileyhappy:
Your HSN friend,
Well, I’m commited to the Westcott Trimair. I just went over to the river and bought it. I’ll post over in Home & Crafts my opinion once I’ve used it. I hope it’s a good one. Of course the tedium of cutting paper was always my excuse for not making more cards and crafts, so if this works out I guess I’ll have to get busy making cards or find another excuse:smileylol: Who knows, the family might actually get Christmas cards this year.
Have A Good Day.
That is so funny I was at the river too and I saw it and was coming here to tell you. Awesome you found it. I was looking at items for my scan n cut and made a purchase. I wanted to get the sticker starter kit for my scan n cut so I did buy it. plus a few new mats to have on hand for it. It all worked out pretty good.
Well you let me know how you like it when you get it. I hope it works well for you. Glad I could help you out.:smileyhappy:
Your HSN friend,
Thanks for the input, CupaTea. I’m really liking the one you found at the store named after the things that holds paper together and luckily I found it much cheaper at the online seller that’s named after the river in South America. YEA! I’m pretty sure that’s the one I’ll go with. Thanks so much for the help.
Wow thank you for the confidence. I have a Fiskars SureCute Scrapbooking paper trimmer cost about 17-18 usd dollars. I make laminated book marks. I have used it for cutting my bookmarks as I do several on one sheet of card stock at a time. I then laminate them then cut them off one by one.
The fiskars surecut is ok. Not like the guillotine paper cutters. This has a wire down the middle and you line up from there and then pull the down on the cutter. For your purpose I do not suggest the one I have.
This is a tough call for me. long ago I had a real nice one but it got lost somewhere. Plus the blade was not self sharpening. That is one thing I like about Fisker the blades can be self sharping or you get an extra.
I am looking at the stationary paper supple store that starts like this Stapl and I have found many with at least a four star review. However the prices vary from cheap to very expensive. I did see the WestCott 12 inch there for 80.00 but it cuts up to 30 sheets at a time. I believe you do get extra blades with it. My first thought was the WestCott you found here. My second was the fisker because of the self sharping blade. The one I saw at the stapl store has almost 5 star review. I just read one that says the person is using it to cut fabric and paper. Item number 887012. Compare it to the one here at hsn. They do not say how many pieces of paper it can cut at a time. It also does not look to have the protection guard like the 80.00USD one.
There is also a similar fisker one at the paper store stapl.More money then here. I myself always and mostly buy Fisker because I have always have had their product last for ever.
I am not crazy about my paper cutter from them because I have slipped off the line and sliced right through my project and ruined it. A guillotine cutter is much better. Prices are expensive no matter where you go but if you want something half way good these days you have to pay for it.
With my conclusion I am going to recommend the Wescott paper cutter.
Hope this helps you out but you know what you need and what you can afford and what would be best for you.
Your HSN friend,
Thanks CupaTea. I count you as a friend as well. I check out your post and replies because they are always so informative. Speaking of which, I would love your opinion on paper trimmers. I’ve been researching guillotine stlyes. I want to cut at least 5 sheets of cardstock and not too pricey. HSN has some great options including a Carl brand(which has good reviews on the net) but it’s a rotary trimmer and I have 3 already of that type. Here’s my options on HSN for a large guillotine cutter:
117-3199 Fiskars $71.95
117-3121 Xcut $39.95
103-7914 Westcott $60.95
Those are just some options from here, but your opinion on any brand from any source(just don’t name the store) would be appreciated.
So happy to see some craft posts! Things have been a little quiet around here since craft day.
Have a great day.
your hsn friend, Possum
Go take a look at the cricut site and look for Hello sunshine drink tray and coaster blog then check out the Meet Sunshine and enter the cricut summer contest Then Check out the ten summery projects you want to make today.
It is all about summer, sunshine and the color yellow. I think HSN followed suit and made their lovely summer time favorite drink designs "Lemonade". How "cool".
Here is to a Happy summer day,
Your HSN friend,
With your added information the more I think about the lemonade designs. The more I am thinking it is made with the cricut air or wireless die cutting machine. The newest one. The reason being is because I think the cricut is the most popular of all the cutting machines HSN has to offer.
I can make similar tag design signs for the Just add water and I can make something similar to the pucker up and Hello Sunshine by using my Brother scan n cut machine. I also have colored pens with that machine and can write out the words and I can also place them in a tag design within my scan n cut. I too can find something on the net and use that.
I can also make a sign that says lemonade 25 cents. I can make any type of signage by hand writting it out or print any thing from my fonts in my word microsoft word program and use my printer to print it out and scan it in to my scan n cut. I can also make signs and designs by using the Scan n cut canvas program.
I have some fruit and veggie designs in my scan n cut and one is an orange that looks like that lemon slice. However no lemon slice. Go figure why an orange and not a lemon?
Like the Brother scan n cut I think the cricut also has sticker paper that one can use to make stickers. Plus both machines can cut magnet sheets. The cutting materials all of them from glitter etc can be cut by both machines.
With that all said I do think it is made with the cricut via sticker paper, card stock and using the pens that you can get or get with the cricut to have the machine write it out.
I do think the card stock is more then likely Anna Griffin.
I would think also like the Brother Scan n cut that cricut has fonts that you can use to write out words or you can just use their website that Anna discussed when she demonstrated the cricut wireless or air.
Thanks so much for mentioning me here as you did. You are a gem and a friend in my book:smileyhappy:
You have a sparkling day and keep posting love your comments and information.
